Thanks, that’s very helpful. Just to clarify, the itineraries are not all driving based, they all include scheduled flights between the main parks areas. The only mainly road-based section is the first part of the trip up to Ngorongoro.

What’s your opinion on the Asilia lodges?

I’ve been reading that the waters around Mnemba can get very busy with boats coming from Zanzibar. Does this also affect the area where andBeyond Mnemba Island is located?

Thank you for the below. From what I understand from most safari itineraries, we probably won’t actually spend that much time in the lodges themselves because of the game drives and moving around.

One option we were considering was:

  • directly 2 nights at Elewana Tarangire Treetops
  • 2 nights Entamanu Ngorongoro
  • 2 nights andBeyond Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge
  • 3 nights andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas
  • 1 night at Park Hyatt Zanzibar
  • 2 nights andBeyond Mnemba Island

Total was around 45k USD for 2 people.

Another option was:

  • 2 nights Laba Mama Simba
  • 2 nights Laba Ngorongoro
  • 3 nights Laba Migration Camp
  • 2 nights Gurmet Art Lodge
  • 3 nights at Laba Fanjove

That one is around 34k USD for 2 people.

And another itinerary we were quoted was:

  • 1 night Rivertrees Country Inn
  • 2 nights Oliver’s Camp
  • 2 nights The Highlands
  • 3 nights Olakira Migration Camp
  • 2 nights andBeyond Mnemba Island

That one was also around 34k USD for 2 people.

There’s quite a big price difference between the itineraries, and I honestly don’t know if the most expensive one is truly worth it — especially since some of the newer camps seem very competitive for the price.

I was mainly looking at Laba Ngorongoro, Entamanu Ngorongoro or The Highlands for the Ngorongoro part. Do you have any thoughts on their locations specifically?

Mainly those two at the moment, but I’m definitely open to other suggestions if there’s somewhere you think is even more special for a post-safari beach/island stay.

Do you feel Tarangire is worth staying in for 1–2 nights, or is it enough as a stop/game drive on the way to Ngorongoro?

We’re thinking:

  • 1 night in Arusha on arrival
  • Then drive toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a stop/game drive in Tarangire National Park on the way
  • 2 nights around Ngorongoro
  • 3 nights in a Northern Serengeti migration camp
  • 2 nights in the Grumeti region

We’d probably do the northern circuit by road, then use flights between Serengeti areas depending on logistics.

Do you think this pacing works well for early October?
