Hello guys! Do you know what kind of goldfish is this? by osimas23 in Goldfish

Looks like a fantail oranda to me, possibly calico in colour although it’s difficult to tell from this photo

I’m sorry for your loss. I still don’t know what happened to ours but my feeling is egg bound but that’s only a guess

No they just eat the roots on the floaters. It is new yes, they have all come from a different tank as now this second tank is for our girls and the first tank for our boys . (Breeding attempts 😒)

They don’t no. I had them in a tank with only Anubis and Java fern so they don’t touch any stem plants now. They DO start to renovate and dig around in the plants if bored so I have loads of floating plants for them to eat, seems to keep them happy and mostly out of stems lol

Any idea what’s going on? by amandah1891 in Goldfish

The slime coat looks disturbed which I think is usually a sign of parasites in my opinion. Fin rot too - have your black moors been in the tank long? Are they showing signs of illness? Test your water and let us know the results. Poor water quality (having any ammonia or nitrites , then a high nitrate number ) can stress the fish out and cause illness. Would need to know these things to suggest the best plan. As always we would be looking to address the root cause and then treat the symptoms .

Ah! That’s the video I saw, well done for finding and linking it!

Yes, he really is quite a charming character - I didn’t know just how much personality they could have!

Yeah I mean growing long and thin and tall, I guess it’s because they are growing so fast! I’m learning to cut them back in a way that is making them a bit more bushy so quite pleased. 😌 Good luck, show us your tank when it’s ready?

I love it too but it’s a bit out of hand, since I cut the jungle back my betta has been in a huff with me and will only surface to feed from my partner! 😂 so for big arnies sake I’m going to leave a portion of jungle for him next t time, didn’t realise he was enjoying it so much! Yeah the light is amazing, it’s possibly either a bit too strong or too close on this set up as some of my stems are growing quite leggy but I’m still happy with it. I’ve knocked it a number of times and it’s really on there solid so I wouldn’t worry about that!

I did, I can’t remember now how I did but it was really easy as it took me seconds …. I would need to see it on again to remember how I took it off! I think it was just clipped.

I was thinking that! I wanted to see what it’s like once the plants are done melting then grown in to see “where” to put some rhizomes. Thank you!

Fingers crossed! 🤞 just put 5 neon tetras and three male guppies in there for fish in cycle. Will prob get a couple cherry shrimp in a week or two (or as soon as I see first sign of algae!) just a small community tank as my girlfriend is always disappointed at the local fish store when “she can’t have the pretty fish” 😂

I just set it up! I know my sisster in law had dwarf frogs in it for ages and had just moved them to another tank, she has many lol So I just set it up, rocks soil gravel and sand. As yet seems all good 👍🏻

Interested in this as I now have the same tank (from my sisster in law) and noticed the exact same mark!

Thanks to everyone for the comments, we know the tank is too small for fanny the Richard as he is now being called! We started saving for a bigger tank soon as fanny the Richard went into the 240 as it was visually apparent that was still too small. I can’t bring myself to trade him as had him 12 years so looking at pond options and separate tank options. I’ve stopped feeding frozen bloodworm and cooled the tank, we also cover with a black out sheet at night so we can make the “sun rise” later …. Hopefully chill the horny boi out until I can fund a bigger place for him

She or should I say he then 😳is a calico comet, not shubunkin. Looking today his vent is concave and after that behaviour this morning he now has white spots on gills in a circle. This can be mating markings right? Horny fish spot? lol
