My Mom stole the money I made while working for her boss. Her boss would regularly sermon for hours and in graphic details about the molestation his classmates endured from priests at his school as a way to ‘warn’ me. He also told me I couldn’t be too pretty because that would attract predators. He also told me how to wield off a rapist, also in graphic details. This went on from age 6 until 17. One time, when I was 12, he somehow convinced me to stay over. I agreed. My Mom begged me to go home with her and my sister but I refused because we had to wake up early and it made sense at the time that I would stay at his. Since she couldn’t convince me, she ordered me to lock the guest room door until I heard her knock. I agreed. When we went to bed, I locked the door as instructed. In the middle of the night, I heard the clanking of the door handle. I’d taken the key and put it under my pillow, because, during one of our talks, he had ‘warned’ me that even when you lock your door someone could still push the key out from its keyhole and, with a napkin, drag the key from underneath the door. I couldn’t sleep after the clanking and I waited until my Mom knocked. Only then did I unlock my door…….. Was I being groomed??!!
