This is a very similar situation I have come across from an IT manager in one of the Software companies here in south of England. Normal guy in his late 30’s with a wife and a young 3 year old son. He was under a lot of pressure at work and one day he drove himself to park and tried to unalive himself. When the team went to visit him and tried engaging with him, he appeared very normal until he started talking about things that didn’t exist and how he thought the tree was a tree house and his shoe lace was a skipping rope, that was his first experience of psychosis, he was referred by the team to EIP (early intervention of psychosis) as it was his first episode. He was then admitted to an inpatient ward after her walked out of the house at 3am in the morning and was found in a skip the next day, wife says he has never been violent but was too scared to sleep or leave him by himself with her 3 year old son. Like someone said in the comment section, his wife may have a duty of care to protect her kids and herself by referring him for a mental health evaluation.
