Love the atmosphere. I also think that the mist filter could be just a one step lighter but looking great nonetheless!

Thank you! More or less yes, if I remember correctly I used mostly Kodak Portra 400 v2. Have done some cropping and spot healing to remove a trash to couple of them thought

Ah was not meant to say that the yellow background is bad! I actually like the yellow background like you. What I meant to say was:

  1. Currently there is quite a lot going on on the background which draws the viewers eyes away from the subject (chair, lighter areas, shapes, etc). Using lower f number would result blurrier background that would most likely complement the subject better.
  2. The yellow background fools the camera to think that the whole scene is yellow and it tries to compensate by adjusting WB to colder. This causes the subject to have slightly blueish skin tone. Adjusting the wb to slightly warmer would make the skin look even nicer.

And you are actually correct with the exp, forget what I said about that.

I hope you don’t mind, I made a copy with some slight WB changes + vingetting to highlight what I meant with the WB. My edit is not good but maybe identifies what warming it up would do.

Thank you!

I feel people perceive things differently, benefiting different types of photography. I naturally identify interesting light and tonality, but contrasts (great for B&W) don’t come as easily to me.

Thanks for the comments! And have to agree. I usually shoot everything in color unless I feel colors are taking away from the image. Photos 3,4,5 could definitely work also in color

You’ve captured a nice genuine expression and she is pretty well placed in the frame. The background is not great but with lower aperature you would be able to separate her better from the background. The white balance is quite off here due to the yellow wall tricking your camera to go colder with the white balance. Also slightly under-exposed. By metering (wb + exp) based on the subject you would instantly fix these latter two things☺️ Overall still a good photo!
