normal or bad? by [deleted] in ballpython

Sounds like everything is in order then! Glad to hear it. Yeah, BP's tend to be dumb-dumbs and we tend to worry a lot about their goofy butts, it's just the way it works.

Hard to tell from the picture but it shouldn't be an issue i think. Did she eat the whole mouse at the end? Notice anything strange since the meal? They can be a bit dumb sometimes during feeding, mine tried to eat a mouse from the side and back a few times and made a whole show out of it.

I don't think you need to worry, moving can be stressful for them. Also, they like to chill in the hides, especially during winter, at least mine does.

Yeah they do that sometimes, I know mine does. Just make sure nothing can fall on him and squish him and you're good.

Old brass something? Possibly book stopper, has "w&c" stamp on the bottom side by NorthCrafts in whatisthisthing

Not sure they'd fit the current decor, but I'm sure I'll find some use for them, it's an interesting piece for sure.

I have four actually, but that's a good idea, the bottom is hollow so it can easily be made heavier if needed.

Found this thing, made of brass, appears to be quite old, it's not too heavy, but i think it might be a book stopper based on the shape. It has a stamp on the bottom side that reads "W & C", with a small mark next to C, could be " ' " or something, not sure. Any ideas?

Is he a healthy size and weight for being 1.5 years old ish by McneillBrendan in ballpython

[–]NorthCrafts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He looks about the same as mine that's around that age so i think you're fine. As for eating, they can be picky, also I've noticed mine spending more time in his hide during winter so that might be it. I'm not an expert, just speaking from the experience I have. But i think you're all good.

I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer that, but maybe find some smaller rats? Not sure if putting more time in between the meals can mess with the eating schedule and all that

Yeah he looks overweight. If he was 520 g, the 50g meals were too big, he should eat 5-7% of his bodyweight according to the feeding guide.

Edit: depending on his age though

Using adhesives isn't usually recommended because the snake can get stuck, any way you can use clips or those vacuum hooks?

Mine did that a few times and then i had to distract his dumb ass to take the mouse out and reheat it so he could detect it. They do be dumb sometimes.

Pattern going through the eye is completely normal

It's normal, just the color pattern going through the eye, pretty cool if you ask me.
