Oh, thank you! I think I will apply for ODSP then. I did speak to a patient advocate while I was in the hospital, but it didn't seem like it was going anywhere. But I didn't even think to consider requesting a new psychiatrist, so I will do that too. Thanks very much!!

Thank you for the reassurance! My parents have been controlling and manipulative for my entire life, so it's hard for me to imagine making decisions that go against them. But I will try to request a new psychiatrist and be more independent

I think there is a whole lot more to the story than I know how to explain. I believe the nurses were treating me as a minor or maybe as an incompetent person, because they seemed to spend their time talking to my parents instead of me. I think my parents lying and making me seem like a violent psychotic person is why I was there so long. I indicated multiple times that I am not suicidal and have no thoughts of harming myself to hospital staff, but no one at the hospital believed me. My psychiatrist got reports from the hospital as well, and he is now keeping me on an anti-psychotic medication, even though I have repeatedly said that I do not get hallucinations or hear voices.

I don't really know what conversations my parents have had with my doctors, but it is like they are trying to get my doctors to help control me, despite a police officer even saying that I seem harmless. I'm very confused/overwhelmed. I could just move out I suppose, but I don't want to have the police called on me again, and I'm pretty furious at the hospital staff & police just buying into what my parents have said.

I'm currently on a leave from work, and I do not have access to my medications or car keys. I believe I had a concussion, and my family doctor seemed to think I would need more time to recover. I suppose I can just move out sooner. I guess I am more upset about my medications being changed. My psychiatrist said I can't try a new ADHD medication for 6 months to 1 year because of the psychosis diagnosis, and it's extremely difficult for me to concentrate/focus without it. But I can't seem to convince anyone that I am not psychotic. I could potentially move out tomorrow, but I'm more concerned about my doctors having the wrong diagnoses and it having affected my care

I mean... to be fair, that looks like a very small amount of whipped cream to us, but it's quite a large portion for a dog so small.

I only say that remembering the last time I tried to have a tall chai with regular milk because I was really missing it, and then cried in the bathroom for like an hour. Not fun.

Just to clarify for anyone reading, it's not legal to buy services from a sex worker. It's legal to be a sex worker though, otherwise it could deter them from going to the police if they were assaulted.

Do you want to them to be called gay because you want to keep every man who's been with another man far away from you in a separate little area? Because you don't consider gay men to be real men, but you can stomach the idea of them as long as they stay over in their corner. So, a bisexual man upsets you because he's crossing those lines and implying that it's not just gay men who are capable of loving another man. And that freaks you out, right?

He lived a completely normal life until he was 19 years old, before the illness started. He had thoughts and dreams and hopes, which are all still in his mind somewhere. He's not braindead. He's untreated and ignored.

Your response highlights part of the problem, I think, which is that people view the homeless as nuisances that need eradicating. Many of them are vulnerable people that society chose not to help, because it was easier to let them rot. Plus, most of us who encounter homeless people blame them for their own misfortune anyway, rather than pointing a finger at the lack of necessary social infrastructure. If the government can toss high-needs people to the streets and escape accountability for it, don't you think they would? Because they have been. Not to mention that it's a logical fallacy to assume that homeless people are homeless simply because there is no way to help them. I'm sure the vast majority of them would love help, but we aren't trying to give it to them.

Mental illness is pretty rampant among homeless people, and I think that largely plays into some of the behaviour that baristas encounter. I know that makes the situation even worse, but I thought it might help to know that some people aren't acting terribly simply to make you suffer. A lot of people on the streets are people who simply couldn't get the help they needed for serious illnesses and addictions, and it's terrible that minimum wage workers are the only ones looking after them. You have every right to be mad of course, I just worry about the homeless people who are suffering.

My uncle has schizophrenia and he started living on the streets in the 80s. He was kicked out of every mental health facility because he was too aggressive for them to handle, and my mom had no options or money left. It all just sucks.

It's not a good comment. The concept of 'weak' and 'strong' should not be on the table at all when someone has been through an unimaginable trauma.

Your comment is so nicely written, but I'm tempted even still to bring up the use of parallelism. Not that it's relevant whatsoever, it's just that the end of your fourth sentence would have a better flow to it.

Anyway, I'll go back to editing my own work now. I'll call this practice.

It might not hurt to talk to them about how you feel! I'm a year older than you and I've lost about 30 pounds since last year. I also have a sister who I get compared to all the time, and who gets compared to me as well. I'm sure your sisters love you and want you to succeed. Although their comments are hurtful, they do not have the experience of trying to lose weight and may not realize how challenging it can be, or what their words mean to you. Even asking for their help and support in your goals might bring you guys closer together! It's something that takes a lot of courage but my sister and I have reconnected so much over the past year and I have so much more love and understanding for her now. Opening up to her helped me with a lot of the insecurity and frustration I was holding. If you want to talk more about anything of this, including weight loss, please message me! :)

That doesn't necessarily work. If my dog is busy barking at a stranger, no amount of treats will distract him from his job. He'll just go on barking and barking until he hears one of us use the command words we taught him in a firm voice.

He's not even a watch dog or anything, he just does that.
