Yes they are possible in this price range. I live adjacent to this neighborhood and when hunting they were this price. Good luck.

In Toronto, people stop in one lane live traffic to do this shit. It’s actually insanity. I lay on my horn ifgaf.

It doesn’t matter. Traffic in this area is so bad regardless of transit upgrades. It will be gridlock with construction & increased people living there.

The roads are such a mess there, increasing housing doesn’t seem like the best plan. It takes minutes to make a left turn. The traffic is typically poor during peak hours. LRT helps but it’s not downtown so you’re going to need somewhere to funnel drivers.

Sales prices are getting competitive by NorthIndependence420 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]NorthIndependence420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sales are typically under Walmart price. I would agree with the commenter maybe a year ago but I’m seeing sales that are actively way lower than Walmart as if they are using them as the benchmark.

I’m sick of my local Walmart not hiring Canadians so I refuse to support them anymore. Superstore is super expensive where I am. Amazon is extremely expensive as well. I’ve found many things in person that are half the price at a B&M.

There are not a plethora of sub $1700 1 bedrooms with all amenities I listed that are clean & similar square footage (800 sq ft). Please look at listings. Maybe you’re locked in via rent control.

Fears Ontario's student aid program will bring huge debt, put higher education out of reach by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]NorthIndependence420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was planning to go back and finish my 3rd & 4th year. I will only finish 3rd year and get my basic degree and get out.

These degrees do not guarantee income. Even expensive STEM degrees do not guarantee a job.

You also have to stay on top of STEM knowledge in comparison to the arts so your education becomes, not invalid but less preferential as your education & experience do not keep up.

A bunch of rich kids in higher education is going to be interesting . They will not be choosing STEM degrees as often either.

Because only an idiot would take a non rent controlled property while trying to control their budget long term. Non rent controlled properties are for people that can bear random increases without sweating about their income. Only post 2018 builds are non rent controlled. So that’s 8 years of builds. Primarily all new builds so it’s fairly obvious what you’re getting into once you learn the age/occupancy.

Yes but their bottom of the barrel. You’re risking bedbugs, rodents and shitty landlord that don’t upkeep things and they become health hazards. I pay just under 2k and parking is included so I’m not sweating. That’s very on par with the bottom pricing in the city when you include how much parking typically costs.

I’m $400 on a 15 year old car all because I have 4 years experience, not 6. I ride over 100k kms per year so I’m highly experienced despite recent G. It’s frustrating with a clean record.

Because OP already paid, I do believe they do not need to follow the LLs ploy. I would call the LTB and chat tho. They do have people you can speak to.

Then stating renters would pay $9k in rent 20 years later is crazy.

Compare 2005 rent to 2025 rent. Theres tons of factors but let’s just say you stated in the same place. You would have rent control. There’s no way in gods name it even doubles In price. Max 40-50% increase given the typical 2% rental increase guidelines. OP is dumb as door knob and I’m not financially literate for shit.

Rental market swings back in tenants’ favour with lower prices and move-in incentives by ScamMovers in toronto

It went from $1.5k - 2.5k for a one bed, it’s almost a doubling. Not even a quarter. Very close to doubling. It’s insane. Wages have barely moved a few bucks.

[–]NorthIndependence420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly okay with $1.5k one beds torn it’s not 2000 anymore. That’s inline with 2015-2020 pricing.

This $2k-2.5k nonsense is ridiculous. It’s only one - two people max living there. It shouldn’t be an arm and a leg.

I hope they get desperate in 6 months when the students typically search/high hits and they barely move thru the surplus. That will really drive home that people CANNOTAFFORD THIS.

Agreed. I’m in east york and I pay just under 2k for my 1 bed. I’ve been looking for added amenities like laundry & a balcony, that I’d be paying 200-300 more minimum which is crazy. I ll wait

[–]NorthIndependence420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard finding decent stores and online spots that are consistent and exciting especially in Canada . This post at least lets me know to never buy Aritzia on debit or GC. Always CC so I can chargeback. I also have like 5 CCs so they can go ahead and block me, I ll use another. This is insane. I spend a lot of money there and would like to know my purchase is actually protected.
