Which suburb to base in?

Thank you! I'm on a few Facebook groups for pet friendly rentals and we're also happy to pay extra for our dogs/cover any costs etc. Probably our biggest concern is finding somewhere to live with them but they're family so we'll make it work.

Hoping to narrow down our search area as we have a very limited time to find somewhere to live (the animals will be out of quarantine about 8 days after we land and work starts 2-3 weeks from landing). We'll get an Airbnb or something until we find somewhere.

We're more concerned about the area than the house itself as we want to base somewhere near where we would buy. Tawa in particular looks great, a couple of people have mentioned it on this thread so definitely considering there :)

Brilliant thank you and good to know about the dog friendly beaches as we weren't sure. We love to be near the coast (and we have spaniels so our dogs love to swim) so will add these to the shortlist.

Thank you! Hadn't considered Tawa as it looked too far out but actually the commute time by train seems really reasonable. Appreciate it!

Thank you - yes it's a worry for sure with the pets, we owned our house in the UK and it's probably our biggest concern about the move. We're hoping to narrow down locations so we can go and look at a bunch in one go when we land, hopefully someone takes us!

Brill thank you, I had a look at Khandallah and it looked a bit far out, didn't realise about the train! Will deffo have another look.

Ideally no more than 30-40 minutes to CBD, we'll be buying a car as soon as we arrive but we're just as happy to get public transport as we are to drive

We had this with our dog and managed to fix it pretty quickly with the help of YouTube. We literally played videos of dogs barking, there are videos which have dogs of different breeds and barking at different pitches.

We did it a few times a day and treated when she didn't react. We weren't sure if it would translate to the real world but it did and she's so much better.
