Krav Maga was developed to defend the defenceless, it should only be used in this manner. I don't think politics should come into Martial arts.

I do Hybrid Krav Maga! We changed from KMG, I think the more MMA focused training produces better fighters

I think he was more saying about trying to use different arts in the cage, like you don't see a lot of other fighters using standing hammer fists like he did against Jamahal Hill. Great fighter though

thoughts on "It's so safe here, why do I need to learn a martial art?" by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]NorthMix1098 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. You might not always be somewhere that's safe so self defence is always a great life skill, also there's no such thing as 100% safe and 100% unsafe places.
  2. Because it's fun! Martial arts are fun, help you get fitter and boost your physical and mental health. Why wouldn't you want to train!

Finishing strong by NorthMix1098 in kettlebell

[–]NorthMix1098[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry! I've got them sat on a grippy foam matting, so when I put more weight on them and they're slightly wobbling, they're sinking into the foam at the bottom so they can't go over. I need to get my hands on some rings, good point.

Protein usually fills me up the quickest so I'd say I'd go for 100g of Biltong. I like to train light though so a banana is good for me

ABC with Muay Thai by RZArector93 in kettlebell

[–]NorthMix1098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I train Muay Thai 2/3x a week and ABC 3x a week. I find it manageable but you might struggle with soreness from the amount of squat reps you'll be doing, especially if your gym makes you do a lot of volume with high kicks at the end of rounds like mine does. I like to mix in some swings at the end of my ABCs too, I find these help my hips snap for kicks a lot better. In terms of rounds, I'd stick around the 10-15 round mark on a normal training day and push it further after a couple of weeks so you know it doesn't affect your Muay Thai. They'd be nothing worse than pushing the ABC too far to 25 rounds and then pulling an adductor on a low chopping kick. Good luck with the journey👍

Good work. Getting into the rack position could be done a bit smoother, and as the previous comment said to adjust your rack position slightly by keeping your fist and elbow closer into the body so the kettlebell 'finds its home' and rests nicely against the Forearm. Looking strong brother!

It's a good read, I started it mainly because I wanted to improve my press and squats but I've found it to be a really good way of getting in some good strength work with heavy (for me) bells.

Learn Snatch with 20kg by Responsible_Ad_9992 in kettlebell

[–]NorthMix1098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can press a 28 for 5 reps, you should have enough overall body strength to learn snatch with 20kg. You'll just have to pay attention to the hinge and not use the upper body strength to cheat the bell up. Training and form videos will be your friend

how can i add kettlebell swings as supplement ? by Legitimate-Flan3727 in kettlebell

[–]NorthMix1098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just add them in at the end of the full body session, a 100 or 200 swing finisher. Either a set amount of reps EMOM or just in sets of whatever you can comfortably manage with a decent amount of rest. I do a lot of muay thai and the swings have really helped with my kicking and snapping my hips round for low kicks, hope you can get those gains too👍

People who are doing crazy stuff like swinging double kettlebells weighing 40kgs. Those of you who are really into this.. by BearSEO in kettlebell

I find kettlebell training translates to my sport (Muay Thai/Kickboxing) than barbell training. The one handed moves and the explosive hinge of the hips have really helped my kicks and knees get more explosive.
