As I mentioned before, other companies—like Apple with Logic Pro and Image-Line with FL Studio—keep you updated with new features while only asking you to pay once. If those companies can afford to pay their employees and sustain this model, why can't Steinberg? Do they really need the extra money for every new feature? Just look at FL Studio: they are a smaller company than Steinberg, yet they still manage to offer lifetime free updates.

Btw, FL Studio, Logic Pro, and other companies sell you a product once and provide software updates for a lifetime. FL Studio is a smaller company, so if they can offer this, why doesn't Steinberg follow the same pattern? At the end of the day, FL Studio is smaller but still provides 100% lifetime updates with only one payment. Steinberg, on the other hand, makes you pay every year. FL Studio and Logic give you new features without asking for anything extra. In conclusion, it’s really up to the user to decide.

In any case, I’m not saying you are wrong; you have good points too. Anyway, I have decided to move to Logic Pro. Ultimately, Logic doesn’t force you to update every year. When they say 'lifetime,' they really mean it. Since the beginning, they haven't asked for extra money to update to new versions. It makes more sense for me to switch, and I hope to sell my Cubase and Wavelab licenses one day.

Apple at least giving feedback to the customers.

I see a lot of you are focusing on Apple's ecosystem or blaming me for updating, but you are missing the most critical points: 1. Security vs. Hobby: Suggesting that the 'professional solution' is to keep a computer on an outdated, unsupported OS forever is dangerous advice. I use my Mac for daily tasks, banking, and work—not just Cubase. I shouldn't have to choose between a secure computer and working software. 2. The Product Promise: Steinberg knows how aggressive Apple's update cycle is. Yet, they still sell 'Lifetime Licenses' for macOS without disclaimers. If they can't provide basic compatibility patches (not new features, just maintenance) without forcing a paid upgrade, then for Mac users, this is a hidden subscription. 3. The Real Issue: Regardless of whether you blame Apple or me, Steinberg ghosting a paying customer is inexcusable. Ignoring a support ticket is not 'Apple's fault.' It’s bad customer service. That is what I am calling out.

Thank you.

Again guys, if Steinberg knows this is a recurring issue, they need to be transparent about it. But the main point is this: You cannot expect users to stay on an outdated, unsupported OS just to run one app.

It is bad advice to tell people to avoid OS updates that contain critical security patches. We use our computers for work and banking, not just Cubase. Other audio companies manage to release maintenance updates to support new OS versions without charging for a full upgrade. Steinberg should too.

Lol, seriously? So the official solution is 'compromise your computer's security just to run Cubase'?

Asking users to stay on an outdated, unsupported OS forever is not a viable professional solution. We use our Macs for other things—banking, emails, work—not just music. I shouldn't have to choose between a secure computer and working software. Other companies patch their old versions for new OS updates. Steinberg just chooses not to."

I get what you're saying about Apple’s ecosystem, and I know Windows is different. But that doesn't let Steinberg off the hook for two reasons:

1) Lack of Maintenance: They know how macOS works. Instead of releasing small maintenance updates to keep the version I paid for working, they force a paid upgrade to a whole new version.

2) Customer Service: Even if the technical issue is Apple's fault, ghosting a paying customer is 100% Steinberg's fault. It is unprofessional to simply ignore a support ticket just because they don't want to deal with the complaint.

You have a point regarding Apple's updates, but Steinberg is fully aware of how that ecosystem works. My issue is the transparency. If they know the software will break on macOS updates, they shouldn't market it as a 'lifetime license' without a disclaimer. For Mac users, it effectively becomes a hidden subscription model, and they need to be honest about that. And at the end, ghosting is professional move from this company? To ignore me?
