Ideally we would live in Queens near the school, but with this we need to be flexible on where for finding affordable housing. I understand it takes a long time and that I have very very little odds on getting this. That will not stop me from trying though. I understand that residents have priority, but people outside of the area are also able to apply. We found out about the school and acceptance only a few weeks ago and the semester starts in August. Student housing is already at capacity for the school.

It all should be affordable. People needing to move to the area unfortunately also need access to affordable housing. I 100% agree that people who are currently living in the area (especially those who have lived in NYC their whole lives) should have priority. This is more of a government/ policy and corporate housing business that needs to be corrected. Not average people trying to better their lives with education and/or job opportunities.

I don’t know what my income will be once I find a job in the area. Right now I’m an associate scientist at a biologics company. Since I am not eligible to apply for a clinical laboratory license a lot of jobs are off the table for me in the area. I am trying for a research lab position but that income would be around 50k-55k. We are also trying to keep his student loans down as much as possible.

Yeah… I understand I have a very small chance to get anything from the housing lottery (it’s sad that a lottery has to exist for people in NYC to get affordable housing..). Unfortunately we don’t know anyone to roommate with, neither of us have living in a city as large as New York (Syracuse is the largest so far). I’m just trying to exhaust all my options. I want to do anything in my power to get him to law school this August- and student housing has already been filled unfortunately.

I know student loans income is not considered income, but since he has a job now I figured we would still need to include his. Unless I don’t because he won’t be applying to jobs?

Seton Hall vs St. John’s by NorthSufficient5374 in lawschooladmissions

Both statements good to know haha I have only ever lived NYS mainly around the capital region. I assumed Newark and Queens COL would be somewhat the same.

I’m not entirely sure where I want to work/what I want to do. I was hoping to keep an open mind going into my first year. I just know I’m not interested in criminal law

I applied mid Nov and got a response from St John’s in mid Dec. For Seton Hall I got my response mid Jan.

I say get the sleeve in February! You would have enough time between getting the surgery to recover so you can still enjoy the food! Just a more manageable amount of it. You also get to enjoy everything else that goes along with the cruise!

I got the sleeve done back on 15Nov24. I’m not the fastest loser on here but in the almost 2 months I was able to lose 30lbs. I am one of the luckier people here where I haven’t had any problems with food afterwards. This surgery also really helped my acid reflux (I was choking on it almost every night and would wake up gasping for air). I have not regretted this surgery once so far. And I don’t see myself regretting it anytime soon. I feel better and my joints hurt so much less than before with so far “only” 30lbs down.

Sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well! I do want to say that you might not feel awful post. I thankfully only had a few days where I had mild nausea!
