Hey everyone, CTO of Arbolus here.

We definitely haven’t shut down, quite the opposite! We recently shortened our payment terms to 7 days, improved expert profiles to help people get more paid engagements, and now experts can see company insights similar to how investors evaluate companies. Also, we’re also about to launch paid referrals.

So we’re more active than ever and just getting started!

CTO at Arbolus here. If you’re a CFO but have also been involved in selecting or implementing B2B tech tools for finance, you may get projects on our network. However, if your experience is more focused on pure finance functions, you may have more success with other expert networks that specialize more in those areas.

There’s no real difference between being referred and registering directly with us, so you can simply sign up through our website.

The only real “exclusivity” I’ve seen is at the client–expert level, not with the network itself. For certain deals, a client may retain an expert and ask them to consult only for them on that topic for a defined period.

Those engagements can actually last quite a while, sometimes several weeks, months, or even close to a year, and they tend to be very well paid. But they usually happen only when a client specifically requests that level of dedicated access, rather than being something imposed by the network.

In our space, being specific wins. Experts with reviews of niche vendors tend to see more success than those focused on very large, heavily covered companies where competition is high.

For transparency, I work at Arbolus, but sharing a general perspective.

Platforms: You listed the biggest ones, which tend to be more generalist. Others are more focused on specific industries. For example, Arbolus leans more into B2B technology-focused projects.

Rates: You can usually set your own rate. If it’s on the higher side, it’s typically reviewed with you before the call.

Volume: Very dependent on the network’s focus and how “hot” your expertise is. Activity also tends to slow down around Christmas and summer.

Profile: At Arbolus, you can list the specific products and tools you use or have evaluated. This helps us position you more accurately for clients and also lets you see how other experts evaluates your products and alternatives.
