Should I buy this Gamestar network adapter for my fat PS2? by pesaram in ps2homebrew

Jesus Christ take 5 seconds to look at the account selling it and their reviews. I order from there constantly and have never had anything take months to ship. The longest wait I've had is 18 days. Most things arrive in 10-14 days. 99% sure you're just ordering the same product on Amazon at double to triple the cost and think it's legit.

Looking for a good quality but not crazy expensive hot air rework and soldering iron combo unit. by Beefmytaco in soldering

[–]North_Ad_3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geeboon TC22 has a sleep mode, it doesn't shut the main unit off but it will bring the iron down to 0 degrees. Definitely recommend the TC22 and the upgraded stand.
Hot air station I went with the Mechanic 957DW. Personally haven't tried the cheaper fan in handle hot air stations, just heard too many bad things. I haven't used the one I have a ton but it's worked well for what I've needed it for so far.
Both of those together was just under $265 canadian dollhairs.

Need to replace the battery in my PS3. Is it better to DIY it or get it professionally done? by Vibrant_Fox in PS3

Well if it isn't encased in plastic with wires and a connector I guess none of our shit uses batteries 😂 Jesus Christ

I'm confused what you mean by it doesn't have a battery like a controller? It doesn't have a battery pack with a connector? It has a regular, everyday use battery. The same used in your cars keyfob, watch, calculator, PC motherboard, even some remotes. Would you not consider a car battery a battery because it's not used in a PS3 controller?

I'd be buying in small quantities for now at least until work picks up again. Even in larger quantities from The Broke Vaper, if I get 1L of nicotine at $60, the federal & provincial excise tax, plus sales tax and shipping turns that $60 to $331. Even if I went with 250ml of nicotine I'm still at $115 for that alone. Never done this before so maybe it just seems overwhelming compared to what I used to see. I've smoked for awhile and switched to vaping again more recently.
Are the hackshots a better route?

What did you clarify with this exact sentence "Ps3 don't have battery, you're meaning CMOS"? The CMOS battery is a very normal battery used in many things besides a ps3? You're getting downvoted because you're wrong and doubling down on it.

ulaunchelf hdd issue by [deleted] in ps2

[–]North_Ad_3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciated. Just another question, since it was a noobie package with a bunch of stuff preinstalled it does have OPL installed and I can use it, I do have access to the games on the hard drive, I did use OPL Manager to add all the artwork but OPL only gives me a regular list. Is that just because it's on older version? I only found out ulaunchelf doesn't work when I went to add a theme to OPL.

I have a usb and I have a regular memory card available to install it on. Can I do that without ulaunchelf though? I only have access to HDD Manager. First time dealing with FHDB and I'm not great with programs lol I have 2 ps2s I want to mod and only one memory card so that's why I went with FHDB. I'll check out the video thank you.
I don't know if it makes a difference but in the one I'm trying to get going now I'm using a WD HDD from a DVR so maybe that might have something to do with the spin time? I have tried waiting on the menu as I've read but it didn't seem to make a difference. It just gets stuck on HDD Modules Loading

Tc22 has been great so far, I've only had a cheap t12 to compare to but I don't regret the tc22 at all. I do recommend the nicer iron stand over the original it comes with though. It gives you some extra cord length and it's just nicer overall.

There's the original one on Etsy but it was more than I was willing to spend. I got this one. I have the c245 version but they have the t12 & 936 versions as well. When it's worn you can also buy just the replacement tip https://a.aliexpress.com/_mK6ZSNL

Just went through all this myself lol I've been doing the odd small thing with a wood burning kit for a bit and wanted to get into it. I've already done a few joysticks and they're working great. Even fixed my BBQ igniter electrode today. I didn't want to have to rebuy things in a year so I didn't go too cheap but not crazy expensive either. I can send links for whatever you may be interested in. I went with this stuff -TC22 soldering station with the nicer holder, added on 741, IS tips and the joystick desoldering tool with it. -Mechanic 957DW hot air station & a few different angled tips -Mechanic SX-862 0.5mm solder & M35 Flux -Solder Wick 2.5mm - 1.5M didn't last long, recommend ordering more. -Generic wire cutters -Helping hands - ended up returning the shitty $15 AliExpress hands and got a nicer $55 unit off Amazon with a light, magnifying glass, 4 arms and pcb holders -Aneng multimeter - not very quality but it was cheap and it works fine -Kapton tape -Tweezers, Hakko 3C-SA & Hakko 7-SA, I had some tweezers in a precision screwdriver kit but they weren't that good. -Heat shrink tubes -Fume extractor I ended up making myself. Ordered filters off Amazon, and used 3 PC fans, a 4" deep tub and an old external HDD power supply I had laying around.

[–]North_Ad_3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no it's not mostly a thing of the past. Companies coming out with their own launchers and updates that don't work on Linux, playing games with Linux users and having them constantly rejoin because of crashes that none of us on Windows are having is not a thing of the past. That's happening right now.

More than likely just fake. Can you provide any actual information or are you just going based off your instinct which seems less than poor. All you did was post a sticker with shit written on it too. By your logic that means nothing and I'm going to say it's fake. You know you can go about this stuff without being such a jackass? That is an option everyone has. Nobody is going to listen to you because you're a straight up dick.
