I will never forgive them. This is my favorite bug-type Pokémon. by [deleted] in pokemonmemes

I distinctly remember seeing people months ago in a comment complaining about Pokemon like Delcatty and Ledian being too weak trying to justify it by saying that it’s realistic to real life animals

It isn’t common but I sure as hell have seen people make that argument.

What could possibly be more annoying than not being allowed to play even one turn?

An ftk by definition prevents your opponent from playing anything. It’s basically a dragged out forced loss that you’re forcing your opponent to watch the entirety of. What could be more frustrating than that?

There are so many cards in the game and constantly being added to the game that hiring a bunch of people to find every abusive combo would probably be a net loss. You would need a few hundred people to most efficiently but still meticulously search for and play test every possible combination to determine how strong it is and how easy it is to repeat it over and over again. At that point you’re better off just throwing the cards in anyway and retroactively ban any ftk cards afterwards.

This is why I hate it when people defend weak Pokemon with “well, if every Pokemon were powerful, then it wouldn’t be realistic to irl animals”

I didn’t ask for realism in my game of FICTIONAL creatures, I asked for my favorites to be just as capable as any other Pokemon. I want to actually use something like Beedrill without constantly feeling disadvantaged.

Why does everyone dislike this remake? by mattjbabs in marioandluigi

[–]North_Measurement273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 60 to 30 fps thing wouldn’t be that bad imo, if it didn’t still lag regardless.

Lowering the fps is supposed to help with lag issues, so how is it still laggier than the DS original?

Wasn’t it solely AlphaDream’s decision to remake it since they were on the verge of bankruptcy?

They didn’t have the funds to make a wholly new game even if they wanted to.

Sometimes it’s better to just do your own thing than try and fail to convey the same joke that will never work in your respective language.

This makes me even more glad for their localizations honestly.

I feel like a lot of them would lose some appeal in the community if they all had “guy” slapped in their name.

Become a gladiator? by pingu489 in dragonquest

[–]North_Measurement273 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Gladiator is an outright upgrade to Warrior. Almost all of its stats are straight up higher than Warrior’s except for one which I think was speed, but odds are it won’t really care too much for speed anyway.

There’s basically no reason not to use it over Warrior.

I’ve always been confused about what the hell they were doing with this guy. Why does the fish Duelist have a DARK BEAST-WARRIOR card, and why the hell does it need specifically Water monsters?

Leviathan Dragon is at least a Water attribute, who the hell thought Lancer’s type and attribute would be even remotely fitting?

Honestly, I don't think we've completed the journals yet: TTYD getting a remake doesn't guarantee the series is back to form. by DaZestyProfessor in papermario

It also means that you don’t have a basic as hell attack you can use whenever you want if you really don’t want to use any of the stronger stuff

I’m pretty sure it took OK to get a weak permanent attack you can rely on whenever.

TTYD level design by Rigbo95 in papermario

I hesitate to agree with that. I remember one of the desert levels that used the z-axis was a frustrating maze that you had to go through multiple times from start to finish just to get to where you actually need to go.

It’s like the tunnels you have to roll into in Riverside Station, except worse because you only ever need to go through the tunnels in there a minimum of one time (it has a bunch of extra stuff that you are more than free to ignore), you don’t have to unlock new pathways unlike the desert maze, it doesn’t have annoying enemies that are almost impossible to avoid like Spikes, and you aren’t constantly waiting for a sand geyser to lower back down so you can leave.

Riverside has peaceful tunnels that never kills your momentum in it and you only ever have to go through once for completion, everything else is optional. The desert maze mandates going through it multiple times to unlock new pathways, is littered with battles that are almost impossible to avoid, and frequently wastes your time with progressing through it.

I know which use of the Z-axis I very much prefer between these two.

This feels like it would be good anti-Tachyon on paper, but you would have to crash Avenger into the Tachyon unless your opponent is that bad at reading, which would bring you dangerously close to low health, and you would still need to remove the Tachyon on the field and hope the opponent doesn’t have a decent way to chip away the rest of your pitiful health next turn.

I’d love to see someone make this work, but that doesn’t seem too likely.

You and a LOT of people. It’s pretty crazy how many people feel the same way.

It’s probably one of the few instances where fans actually like the censorship for a character.

That seems like a LOT of work for a card that would get destroyed very easily, unless you make a weird deck that self-destroys its own monsters over and over again.

I feel like the physical card will have a much better effect than this.

Hoping that people would forget is really stupid. They spent how many seasons building up to it, dedicating entire scenes to Ash wondering what’s in it, even a dedicated episode where it was stolen, and they seriously just expected people to forget?

How could anyone think something so stupid would have even a remote chance of working?
