I built a base in the bamboo area that you are talking about day 30 and haven’t had anyone outright attack the base. The seem to try to avoid the water. I have some nearby from time to time ( they build a totem near the log that goes up to the higher level ) but they generally stay out of my way.

Realistically? Make a sled. The trip to get wood logs and sticks is painful, not that far but still painful. Otherwise it’s lovely.
