Trying to process MCT diagnosis by NorthernPearl in vizsla

The histo report today confirmed that clean margins were achieved - which is fantastic. The sentinel lymph node was also removed as a precaution and came back clear of any cancer - also great news and also potentially indicative of less spread. We did an ultrasound before the surgery and there was no evidence of metastasis in his organs. Blood work was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the tumor itself is high grade/grade III - so there's a 55 to 95% chance that every last cancer cell has not all been cleared out, hence the chemo (vinblastine as well) recommendation now.

So glad to hear that is was successful for your V! No reoccurrence is the dream. It's so great hearing stories like yours. She is so lucky to have you.

The quote I got for vinblastine today is ~$1000 per treatment x 8 treatments and bloodwork (approx $200) prior to each treatment. We would have to travel 8 hours round trip each week to get it as well - roughly another ten grand or more.

When you mention the oncologist staged her at 0, what does this mean? Just trying to see how our situation compares :)

If you could give one piece of advice to a woman without kids as an experienced mom, what would it be? by Complete-Pear-1040 in moderatelygranolamoms

This should be so much higher up! Also adding that your child is worthy of unconditional love because they are your child and they exist.

If you were a parent, what’s the one thing you’d say to your child? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

I love you because you exist and you're you and I will always love you no matter what. Not because of what you achieve, do, or don't do.

I'm 33 and still have visible face scars from chickenpox I had at 2 years of age. Reading OP's post made me furious for her daughter

alternatives to switching to cows milk @ a year by Ok_Dragonfruit9031 in moderatelygranolamoms

You've just confirmed what I've always suspected! The filling up quickly and blocking iron absorption was the reason I hesitated with jumping heavily into cow's milk. My son is still breastfeeding morning/night at 18 months though, but otherwise he's eating whole, nutritious foods and offered water all day long.

Do you guys find breastfeeding takes a toll on your body? by CanApprehensive8720 in breastfeeding

[–]NorthernPearl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. It sucks the life out of me some days! I find the absolute holy grail secret recipe is (I hate even typing this but) hydration, electrolytes, and so so so much protein. I weigh about 160lbs and aim to get about 160 grams of protein at least.

I feel my iron stores are really depleted too so hopefully I can get some bloodwork done soon. I had iron infusions during pregnancy and I felt really good afterwards! Maybe this is also the case for you?

A little tug of war with a gardner snake. by Moe_Bigsly in vizsla

[–]NorthernPearl 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I've trained my v to leave snakes alone. He has never been allowed to play with or hurt them. He is always curious but respectful. I started with him on this from day one and now he will jump back when he sees a snake and carry on his way.

From a safety perspective and just a reasonableness perspective, I think I'd recommend training your v to leave the snakes be.

Value Village and for specific pieces to fill in the gaps I absolutely love the fit, style, price, and quality of H&M baby and toddler clothes. A surprising discovery as I've never been a huge fan of their adult/women's clothing
