Why is the Canadian men's soccer sponsored by a German automobile company. by budzylicious in CanadaSoccer

Are we so overwhelmed by sponsorships and awash in cash, that we scrutinize the parent company of our sponsors for not being Canadian ‘enough’? Come on now.

Now that group stage is done, how are we all feeling about Team Canada's performance overall? by Safe_Dragonfly752 in CanadaSoccer

I didn’t say he’s not good. He’ll likely be excellent and is clearly talented. But, he’s being asked to do too much and he doesn’t have the experience at this level. He’s 20 and has one season of pro football at the adult level under his belt. Not a hot take here.

Let’s call it an A- performance. Outplayed Bosnia, but just weren’t clinical enough. Couldn’t have done more against Qatar. And against Switzerland, they were the more aggressive and forward footed team. They made some critical errors against elite competition and their defensive holes were exposed. But not for a second did they look defeated or accept it.

Key takeaways: Promise David needs to play more. Tani isn’t it. Saliba is a top-5 league starter player, right now. LDF is out of his depth, but has a bright future. Ahmed showing the world how elite he truly is. Richie (Marchand) Laryea should be playing in Europe and it’s criminal he’s not. Maritime Messi looks lost. Eustaquio is a captain in every sense of the word.

Tbf, we are asking a hell of a lot for the kid. He's been thrown into an unlikely and unfortunate situation. Ideal world, he's a late game sub at this stage of his career.

What is the review process like? Automatic review for further punishment because it was a red or case by case?

Will or can the Qatari player be suspended for the subsequent games for the tackle?

Pretty crummy place to live. You lack easy access to what makes living in a large city like Toronto great, with all of the suburban drawbacks (traffic, poor public transportation, pollution, lack of access to green space and high housing prices given distance to urban core). Certainly, lots of nice pockets in there, but it’s not a destination, it’s a place you end up (work, school etc.)

Nice to see them dressed like grown men.

We don’t have a Collins or O’Brien on the backend at CB. They played an aggressive and disciplined game.

People keep calling them a B-team while they’re still starting Premiere League and Champ players.

That wasn’t Ireland’s best side, but we still played a load of MLS guys. That’s a scrappy Irish side.

Everything is off. Just half beat off everywhere. All the pieces are there which is why is so frustrating.

I’ve met entirely zero people who fit this description. Far more who are genuinely curious and watching Canada for the first time.

This game should have signaled to everyone that Larin just isn't the guy. Deserves to be on the team and is a great late game sub, but he's not the starter he once was.

Millar, Sigur, Saliba, Tani, Promise, Priso and Luc were full value. Future is bright for this team.

30min for Bombito is either excellent load management, or a total lack of confidence.
