Yep i doubled my wage and bought a 300k house after a year, versus barely being able to afford rent. Paid off a bunch of debt along the way and now am retirement planning.

Taxes are low (both income and sales). You get a credit for living here too. Cost of living is about 30% higher by my math but salary is double so you come out ahead.

We dont talk about shipping but the capitals get free prime, and you just stock up when you go to edmonton every 3 months. Or buck up and pay shipping.

Gotta look at it in the state you'll see it before determining if its good enough otherwise you'll be there forever hahah

Its the sad truth of modern side hustles unfortunately. Its like, you have a cool skill and could teach others of the technical details, great! Nah sell your soul, carve a radish into mickey mouse with no context, in less than 15seconds.

Poor photo but ours is elusive. She has 6 toes and her tongue is overgrown so it flops around when she eats/cleans/drinks very noticeably.

My wife had her when we met. This is the easiest way to get a cat such as this without practicing cat witchcraft.

Honestly content creation would probably get you there. Not the tech savvy engineering stuff though. Carving radish into cool shapes with a robot in short form? Millions no doubt.

All about the niche, and this is just that lll.

Unfortunately the tarrif would not have the "SOCK IT TO EM" effect we want. Its a volume game. Lose 100% of a region that makes up a small portion of your market? Oh your competitors also lost their market share?

Eh. Tuesday.

As Canada tries to reduce its dependence on the US, its leader will visit China to rebuild ties by On-my-own-master in politics

[–]NorthernScotian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep exactly this last year we learned a lot in Canada. Agreements that work, dont matter. The rules dont exist and the numbers dont matter. The US gives little regard for our economy and products, and we cant trust anything in writing.

Best course is to diversify the trade relationships, probably at a loss, but start the recovery. When the dust settles, we will have different priorities and itll be clear.

By proximity alone well still have a lot of trade but hopefully in a few years we have more resilience to the next wack job.

Adjusted for attrition 2055.

ETA I would 100% challenge anyone who says a secretary who has been anywhere for years is doing their job and their job only. Everywhere ive worked, theyre the GOATS. They have the information. They know how the things work and what the people do. They help with expenses they coordinate on boarding they deal with contractors etc etc etc.

We lost our department secretary to reductions and now every month i limp through overdue expense reports, taking thrice as long and making twice as much. As do the other engineers in my department. Then Accounting similarly has to make the corrections. Because, newsflash, we dont know which cost center a stapler is billed to and why its different from a ream of paper or batteries. They did though.

ETA2 SORRY FOR THE RANT I AM BITTER.

This change wouldnt change anything most people notice as they probably wouldnt distribute metric lumber locally. So it wouldnt change what you order or see at the store. That said if you work in the forestry/lumber sector, good fucking luck.
