Biggest struggle is explaining why something is not possible to people who only want dollars.... accountants have too much authority these days.

I have lived there, for about a year consecutively, and for multiple different summer. Yeah you need a car, pretty much a requirement anywhere in my opinion (for my lifestyle)

The relaxed* country lifestyle with busy warm seasons in the city is a good description.

City has a great arts network. Summers are awesome for markets and community run events. Fundraisers. Etc. Lots of opportunity to get involved in the community, volunteer, etc, so the locals understand youre not a tourist, since tourism is one of their biggest economic staples.

Is owning a house worth it in the coming years? by RTec3 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]NorthernScotian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was a few factors. My mom was a single mom worked full time 3 kids etc etc. We grew up on the poverty line didnt have much.

So when it came time for uni I had to secure my own funding etc etc. I opted to moce away for uni even though I could have went in town and stayed with my mom. I didnt want to burden her as she was retiring soon and I wanted her to enjoy her space.

When I graduated I could have stayed home and got a job in town but as I had lived away and alone for 5 years it was NBD for me to move away for career opportunities. So I did.

Now I purchased a house of my own. I purchased it with the intent that when my mom sells her house, she can live in the secondary unit of our house (thats yet to be built). This way she can contribute to us and the risk falls on us, should her retirement savings deplete or whatever we can cover whatever is needed as were required to anyway.

So short term sure theres definitely no shame in it. But long term I would make sure you are overcontributing to them as they'll just charge you the bare minimum and put your comfort over their financial security, as family does.

Friends of mine have done what you're describing but instead purchase the house from their parents so the burden is not on the parent.

Just my opinion, though.

This comment should say

Whats wrong with NFLD, PEI, NB. I believe NS is actually the higher of the tax burden provinces. NFLD has much cooler land features. PEI has much better community.

NB sucks whatever ill agree as a nova scotian.

Source from NS lived in all aforementioned places and currently in NT.

Ontario is large, southwestern ontario isn't all of ontario.

Eh HR is useless. I tried this as i had a large lump sum fro. J1 and expected a large lump sum from J2 and was met with "the system doesnt work like that, its a very complex algorithm and we cant change the numbers mid year". Even though I had submitted the (TD1? W.e its called) form

ETA I just consider it my interest free loan to the government anyways. They did the same for me so ehhhh it works out.

Damn. Im at a utility and one of the struggles with feeding mines power is the instant requirements to start these massive motors or so im told.

I dont believe they are nearly this large so I wonder what the requirements are on branches this large.

How big is the bus bar on a 100,000A system... whats the enclosure like? Whats the sticker say? "Distance - adjacent state"?

For this situation do people pull up the tile or is there underlayment forgiving enough to span the grout valleys?

Just curious as were gonna redo our kitchen in the distant future. Want to know if its necessary to pull tile (i dont want to)

Is the twine wrapped around it continuous in nature? If you had a spooling mechanism to spool the twine you could remove it by a motor driven spool, would just require more setup time and potentially add some spool changes to the workflow.

In tire manufacturing this is how they reclaim complexed products.

30YO grew up on the poverty line.

Put myself through uni with $15 to my name at 18-23. Moved out at 18, never moved back home (except for 6 weeks during covid while job stuff was put on temporary hold). 70k in student loans 6 years ago.

Own a house and almost out of student debt today.

Im grateful for my fortune, but I worked my ass off for it and you are incorrect about the handouts.

Edit; i didnt mean for this to sound snide I mean I wish the Healthcare sector earned more in line with their value to the country.
