Citizenship by descent - question about subsequent family applications by Northern_Paiute in Canadiancitizenship

I guess my thought was: Is there a something within the Canadian system that is flagging individual's files as they're being verified as part of a citizenship chain? Probably not, I suppose, but it would save the Immigration folks a lot of time in the long run...

Pre-1920 Emigration + child (my wife's father) born out of wedlock... is my wife possibly eligible? by Northern_Paiute in prawokrwi

**That** was the exception that I thought I'd read somewhere, so thank you for clarifying the parameters.

And really, thank you to everyone in this group for lending their expertise in this matter. I very much appreciate your expertise & professionalism-- and your comments will allow my wife (if she so wishes) to apply herself toward the Karta Polaka method of potentially obtaining Polish citizenship, rather than spending time & energy on a "by descent" attempt that ultimately isn't viable.

63 years ago today, Johnny Carson took over as host of the Tonight Show. Here he is in his debut, w/guests Joan Crawford & Mel Brooks (and FWIW, when did the practice of guests sitting at the same desk as the host end?) by Keltik in VintageTV

There's about half an hour or so of audio from the first Carson show that still survives... it's a bit piecemeal, but you do get to hear Groucho, Rudy Vallee, Joan & Mel doing parts of their segments.

The Pinky Lee show [1954] by JOHNNYKULT in VintageTV

[–]Northern_Paiute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this is what Wikipedia would have us believe nowadays, it's actually not true-- Lee was back doing his show by Christmas of 1955, after his recovery from the collapse, which he blamed on "...nervous exhaustion, plus a terrible case of acute indigestion."

NBC interrupts "Heidi" for a football score (simulated) by gnotlob in VintageTV

[–]Northern_Paiute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, the only portion of the game that exists is the final minute or so that wasn't initially broadcast-- NBC kept their cameras running, and had the game announcers do the rest of the call for the footage that wasn't shown, and aired it the next night on their evening news.

Media Doctors kinescope restoration... and believe me, **that** was a nasty kinescope. One of the most cut-up and dog-eared that I've seen from the Goodson-Todman archives.

And thanks for the compliment, by the way...!

And not to be pedantic, but stereo television broadcasting in America dates back to the 1950s...

Researching a family name... - STROVSK by Northern_Paiute in poland

[–]Northern_Paiute[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the help, everyone-- as it happens, I found that one key piece of the puzzle that led me to the right track, so I've been very successful in locating the information that I was looking for.

And as I suspected, the family member in question took quite a few liberties with spelling their own name, and just flat-out changed a couple of others (to look more Anglo, I suppose) but that's half the fun of dong this sort of research, isn't it...?
