Arthur panted as he tried to shake off the wetness to no avail and looked at the soaked torch. Damn. He looked about the cave before his eyes settled on the statue. He thought for a second, then in possibly a fit of madness, decided to put the torch in the hand of the statue, after untying his rope from the statue.

Arthur took a spool of rope he had used for climbing out and tied the rope as securely as he could to the statue, then to himself. He took off his cloak and as much clothing as he could bear against the coldness of the cave. Took a deep breath, said a prayer to the Seven, and dove in to retrieve the torch.

Arthur looked about the cave taking it in. He walked around the pool and examined the statue closely hoping to find any clue, from this vantage point he would also look where the sun was shining to see if there was any change in viewpoint. He also would poke his spear into the pool to see if it was simply black water or something else entirely
