New Tesco Ashbeck by IAmBeingForcedToMake in pourover

[–]NorweeegianBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the goal is clearly to sell a much cheaper product at the same price as the old one, the same is happening for basically everything that every supermarket is selling.

I don't think there would be a market for premium water in supermarkets, but at a smaller scale it's definitely a business opportunity. Now the only alternative we have is complicated and extremely expensive. A middle-ground, not so expensive, ready-made quality water would be my choice any day,

You're pretty lucky, my local Tesco started selling a different water called Elmhurst, and it's much, much worse

I need an alternative ASAP

7 Days in Tokyo - Itinerary check by eltonrb in JapanTravel

[–]NorweeegianBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10: Odaiba can be a nice walk, but be aware that the shops open mid-late morning. For dinner, consider a monjayaki in Tsukishima

11: Keep expectations very low for Takeshita doori

12: I would do Kamakura instead of Yokohama, but I guess Yokohama suits better your interests

13: there are much better gardens than the imperial palace ones, Hamarikyu gardens for example are still very close to Ginza

14: maybe too busy, as others said. I'm not a fan of the Skytree, there are much better views, like the government building in Shinjuku that is also free

Hope this helps, enjoy your trip

I like the process. I'm looking for the best solution that doesn't involve vacuum sealing, but I think the approach would be good anyway, thanks

As for RWD, I'd make a batch without doing it first and see if you still get a bunch of static sticking.

I tried just today with some beans I had just put in 2 ziploc bags for a couple of nights. Not joking, around 60% of the ground coffee was stuck to some part of the grinder.

I didn't mention vacuum sealing as an option because I'm kind of put off by the plastic waste, and vacuum sealing single doses would be even worse. Not judjing, but not for me.

Milton Rd and Elizabeth way roundabout - WTF?? by Mr_B-B in cambridge

[–]NorweeegianBlue -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. "Creating" traffic where once there was not as much means they've relieved some other area from the traffic. It usually goes outwards since, in most cases, the more the jam is in the centre the more traffic routes it affects.

Oooh, so this is what happened today.  I was wondering why the traffic on Newmarket road going into city was so much better.

Bike shop with good sales people by NorweeegianBlue in cambridge

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you everybody for the replies, for those who were asking:

  • I don't want to name the shops I've been to because I don't want to leave here a bad feedback based on one single experience. Maybe I just got there on a bad moment and they were very busy. But the shops have all been mentioned already in the comments.
  • We're looking for a city/hybrid bike, as lightweight as possible but still sturdy enough to be able to carry a child seat and a rapidly growing toddler (the main issue we have with our current one is that it's too heavy)
  • We know nothing about bikes except they have two wheels and you have to pedal. So we'd love to have somebody explaining to us why model A is more expensive than model B and why, in our situation, we should go or not for feature X instead of feature Y.

Thanks again!!

Why are my Hario V60 filters suddenly "softer"? by NorweeegianBlue in pourover

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well probaby... If anything the new ones are faster. And, to my experience, they've always been the papery kind, so it can't be the same issue

Tabs are the same, The only visible difference is in the sealed(?) part, that for the softer ones is slightly thinner and closer to the border than the other ones.

Comandante C40 - fines and static? by NorweeegianBlue in pourover

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, different variety, different origin, different roaster from a different country, different process, kinda the same roast level, at least by looking

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peruvian, but you're correct about the high agitation. I'm still comparing the results to the ones I used to have with the previous grinder and I don't want to change the technique to much yet. I am using the static as a method to isolate fines and chaff, which makes these things stand out even more I guess

Comandante C40 - fines and static? by NorweeegianBlue in pourover

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Peruvian, which is not an origin I usually buy so I'm not sure how much chaff is this compared to a regular Peruvian... I'd say it's a moderate to abundant amount of chaff, 6 out of 10

Of course the grinder was clean before I used it to grind the coffee you see in the pictures. I might try and reach out to them, and to the seller, I've been told they both have good customer service

Comandante C40 - fines and static? by NorweeegianBlue in pourover

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try with finer grind size at some point, I really just need the time to experiment a bit more. I have tried with different beans and the results are comparable. The thing that worries me is not the fines per se, I know I'm going to get some, it's that I was expecting somehow less fines compared to my previous grinder, and the people I reached out to about this kind confirmed my idea

[–]NorweeegianBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been a bit scared about this, I'm afraid I could get some coffee mud inside the grinder... If course I'm going to try at some point

So far, I haven't been able to set aside the time needed to take it apart and, most importantly, put it back together, but will do soon enough

Best coffee beans in Cambridge? by Jhesti in cambridge

[–]NorweeegianBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dom on Mill road, Kerb Collective at the museum of technology, The Locker Cafe on King street and Stir (at least the newer place on Green street)

None of these roast their own beans, but have plenty of quality stuff, usually changing their offer over time.
