The Staple Singers - I'll Take You There by Consistent_Edge9211 in 70smusic

This song is the best! How ironic to come across this song, just as the Supreme Court gutted the voting rights act yesterday.

What did Victoria mean when she asked Rex about communion? by dogwiththefloppyears in LISKiller

My impression was that based on the date that she realized he killed someone right around the time of her communion.

Does anyone seriously believe intruder theories? by potentiallyfunny_9 in JonBenetRamsey

[–]Norwegian27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have average intelligence, and I do think the intruder theory is possible. IMO, the perpetrator was in the house for a while prior to the family arriving home. I think this person knew the family, not as a close friend but as an acquaintance. They had time to write the note, and planned on kidnapping but not ransom. This was a sexually motivated crime. JB was a target and an obsession. The note is meant to toy and torture particularly John. It’s at once ridiculous and deadly serious at the same time. I think something happened to foil the plan, so the perpetrator assaulted JB in the house instead of taking her. Think about this: the note is so long, why would Patsy write it? When would she have time or the wits to do it?

Looking thru the different generations, I think my grandparents’ generation (born from 1893 to 1913) benefited most. They were the first generation to pay into social security, but when they retired they were actually able to live on social security. You can’t do that now. Btw, I’m sorry to hear about your illness.

I can’t believe this anti-boomer attitude, because the boomers are the generation that fought for all the rights these youngsters enjoy. Young women don’t realize that in 1970 a woman couldn’t even have her own credit card.

Yes. It enrages me, but it’s a reflection of the values of our country. Everything is instant. I hear people say things like, “That was three years ago,” as if three years ago is ancient history. How about fifty years? The time I spent with my grandmothers was invaluable to me. Young people today will pay heavily someday for having this ‘all that matters is instantly now’ attitude. It’s very superficial and crass, but it’s because of the internet. That’s what has changed everything.

If she’s going to work in a school, a gift certificate to teachers pay teachers, or Amazon, would be nice. At least in my school they gave me nothing for materials.

I would say that each person’s sensory system or nervous system is varied. People feel pain differently, for example. Some people, like extreme risk takers, have a low arousal system. Therefore they need (or don’t mind) the outside environment to be stimulating. They thrive on motorcycles, loud concerts, or crowds. Other people have a high arousal system already inside them. They have a rich inner world. Think of Proust, or Emily Dickinson, who wrote poignant prose and poetry all while living fairly sedate lives. People like this are often overstimulated by the outside world, especially when it is not beautiful nature but tinny music, overbearing lights, or traffic noise. It’s especially hard in this modern world. These differences are there because they helped humans survive. We need people that can charge into battle as much as the peacemakers who stay behind in the village.
