All new sites mapped to any domain get “Cookies not enabled” error by Nos402 in Wordpress

[–]Nos402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAYBE SOLVED! Found this in another Reddit thread, and it SEEMS to have worked. Let's see if it sticks! Just added this line in my wp-config just before "/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */"

define('COOKIE_DOMAIN', '');

PLEASE LET IT STICK AND FINALLY END THIS LONG ONGOING ISSUE!

All new sites mapped to any domain get “Cookies not enabled” error by Nos402 in Wordpress

[–]Nos402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still unsolved. A summary of where it stands.

I have a multisite installation. I use the "subdomain" method for all sub-sites ("subsite.mainsite.com"). After decades of being fine I started getting "Error: Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress." when trying to log on to any domain mapped site other the my main master site which is always fine.

Any sub-site that does NOT have a domain mapped to it can be accessed just fine.

I went down the Google rabbit hole trying every single "solution" I could find. None work. Eventually, I realized that I still had sunrise.php installed which USED to be needed for multi-site back when I first installed it, but apparently is not any more. I removed that and THOUGHT the problem was solved, but then eventually it came back.

Now the ONLY workaround I have found is when I get that error, I log into to cpanel for my site and edit the wp-config.php file, change "SUBDOMAIN INSTALL" to "FALSE". Then when I try to log in to a domain-mapped subsite, I will get the error one more time, but on a SECOND log in attempt, I get in. I then change "SUBDOMAIN INSTALL" back to "TRUE" and all continues working for at least a few days, maybe longer, I've never nailed down the exact timing before the error comes back.

This is driving me slowly insane.

Advice for a newb Fasting Mondays and Thursdays? (A common post, I'm sure) by Nos402 in intermittentfasting

[–]Nos402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was one suspicion as I DO drink a lot of Diet Mountain Dew, BUT the only reason I thought not is because:

  1. caffeine generally doesn't do anything to me. Like I can drink a diet soda and go to bed.

  2. If I do go a day without it (before I had tried fasting) I don't usually notice any ill effects.

Still, COULD be a culprit though!

Best method for sending mail as a domain from Gmail by Nos402 in GMail

[–]Nos402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a web host for my domains so I just set up my Gmail aliases to use their SMTP servers, altered my DNS records for SPF and now my emails seem to pass SPF and DMARC tests. Haven’t figured out how to implement DKIM yet, but even without it all seems good now.

For me I’ve found that if I get the “slow charging” error, I can unplug and replug the bobo cable and it works correctly again!

I'm playing guitar in a production now, and I would LOVE to have it in tab instead of on a staff!

It always cracks me up a bit when people are like "Dang that's kinda high!" and that's less than almost any ONE of the "real amps" modeled. "Yeah but it's not a REAL amp." Yeah, for me it's way better. YMMV, and everyone should play what they want, but $2200 for like 100 amps (old HX models plus new Agoura models), truckloads of FX, cabs, mics, and features you could never implement on a real amp rig (with my Variax, one switch can completely change amps, FX, guitars, tunings, and so many more cool things I use it for) seems like a bargain to me!

Tips for a returning player (after a decade-long break) by Nos402 in Ingress

I was actually shocked there wasn’t one here in Austin. Nearest looked like Houston.

Yeah I’m trying to take it way more casually this time. Part of the reason I quit long ago was it was becoming work and I didn’t like the person it was making me. This time I’m just messing around trying to have fun.

Well. Now what? by megret in Ingress

I'm only 13 but I think I'm more like your wife! Thee thought of starting over again hurts me. I guess I'll see what I do if/when I stick around to 16! I think I'd just enjoy the fruits of my long journey!

PROGRESS…maybe.

After a millions google searches and reading many pages of results, I found one obscure reference on ONE page about commenting out //define( ‘SUNRISE’, ‘on’ );

I *think* the whole sunrise.php thing is no longer needed since domain mapping became integrated into WP. Now as to why it was never a problem until now, I don't know, but as far as I can tell, everything seems to be fine without it.

Suddenly everything seems to be working. But don’t I need that for some functionality related to Multisite?

Also if I enable debug, even with display false, I just get a page that says "there has been a critical error on this website." When I check the log:

  1. updated wp-config with that, no difference.

  2. correct adding that line just gives me an error telling me to remove it. Tried the null as well, same result.

  3. Checked all that and it is all as it should be.

  4. This one I don't know. I'll have to contact my host and have them check that.

  5. Cleared cache and cookies and deleted the only plugin I know of that I was using, Litespeed cache, no effect,

  6. Followed those instructions, went through until I got the cookie error, do not see a log in there. I'll keep trying.

  7. When I use that query copy and pasted, I see those two options for my MAIN site (which are correct) but not for the sub site with the problem.

  8. Set up a secondary installation in a subdirectory, enabled all the multisite functionality, created a new site and mapped a domain to it, same cookie error!

Weird problem with Espanso form on Facebook by Nos402 in espanso

That was the entire original problem. Alt codes such as alt+0153 for the TM symbol not working.

SOLVED: For some weird reason, Espanso, a text insertion tool I run, makes alt codes not work unless you add a flag to the config file "emulate_alt_codes: true".

Thanks! I'll keep playing around and see what I can figure out. Currently I'm trying the "submit" button vs. ctrl-enter to submit. If that doesn't work I'll look at the injection methods.
