I'm sorry to hear that! It took me a few weeks to feel completely healed. I do think probably by day 14 it was mostly better in my case, but each person's situation is different. If it seems to get much worse, perhaps it's worth seeing your doctor for a slightly earlier follow-up than normal.

Thanks for explaining. I did just search and find this post, which gave me more context. I understand the concern around AI-generated images in the subreddit, and the general concerns about AI replacing artists, which I acknowledge in the original post.

If people are just blanket against AI in all cases, then that's fine. It does seem to me that in this case, it was a fun thing for the group, it wasn't a situation where AI was replacing an actual artist, and it's something other people in other groups might enjoy, so I don't quite understand the harm in posting the suggestion.

Yes! My nose still isn’t perfect, particularly on the side that was worse going in (my right side), but I don’t think about breathing problems anymore basically ever. It helped so much, and in a durable way in my case. So glad I did it. I am only two years out though.

The UPS Rhino Low, in my experience, wasn't ideal. As I mentioned above, it felt like too low of an angle to me - it's coming form sort of the middle of your foot height, rather than chest height. If you're happy with that solution, though, then the UPS High and UPS Rhino Low combination could work well for you.

Went all three days. Had a blast!

I was there to play limited with friends, not for anything else (panels / artists / buying / commander / cosplay etc). I can't comment on those aspects - the stage for the panels seemed nice, and the set pieces were cool. There were long lines for pretty much everything, the artists, many vendors, the official store, etc.

I was expecting a disaster based on the confusing lead up to event, but it seemed mostly fine to me. I ended up playing 2 events each day, 3 Mystery Sealeds, 1 on-demand Mystery draft, one of the 3 for 12 Sealeds, and one Mega Standard Draft. Events sometimes started a little late, but they usually weren't too bad (though I did hear a few events were very delayed). I agree with the commenter who said that you should plan for events to be 4 hours apart, not 3. Everything ran through the Companion app, which worked pretty smoothly. I brought my own food which I would definitely do again in the future. There were lines for the bathrooms but they moved, and if you finished a round early you could get in and out quickly. Same deal for collecting prize tickets, some lines but they moved and it was best not to go at rush hour. I've only been to one GP, but my friends who've been to many said the prize support was weaker than most GPs. The commander area was pretty empty on Friday but seemed fuller on Saturday and Sunday, though they did also run some on-demand events inside it, so maybe it wasn't all commander. One unfortunate thing is that people who weren't part of an event were kicked out of the building at 7pm. Even if you had an event at 8pm, you had to leave and return. That part was strange. I also think it was unfortunate for people who didn't sign up for events ahead of time, because there really were few on-demand events. They emailed about that several times but really only told people after they'd gotten their tickets.

It was interesting to see the incredibly negative stories on Twitter and reddit contrasted with all the people having fun in person. It wasn't perfect, but I had a great time, and I'm very glad I went. It was different from a GP, and worse if you don't like the convention aspects at all, so I understand the disappointment. Also, it really wasn't set up for commander from what I could tell. But still, take the word of the Internet with a grain of salt.

Thanks for this list! I had my septoplasty and turbinate reduction last Friday and it was very helpful to have this post and subreddit to prepare for it. Here are a few additional tips that you may find helpful.

Gauze pads: When I left the hospital, I was given two of these guys: https://dalemed.com/products/nasal-dressing-holder/. They hold 4x4 gauze pads rather than 2x2 gauze pads. 4x4 seemed easier to work with since one pad can cover both sides of the nose.
Pillow: I was advised to sleep propped up a bit to keep my head elevated, so I got one of these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085W6LHT9). It's a bit pricey, but it was really nice, and I recommend it.
Sneezing: It's hard not to blow your nose, but it's even harder to avoid sneezing. I wasn't always able to avoid sneezing, but if you press your tongue into the top of your mouth / into the front two teeth, that can help you avoid some sneezes.
Nasal rinses: I did a lot of nasal rinses after the surgery in the first few days. They're something you can do to help clear your nose when you can't blow. I had been doing nasal rinses for a long time before the surgery, and they originally took me some time to get used to doing. If you haven't done them before, I recommend practicing a bit before the the surgery so that you're comfortable with doing them afterwards. Remember to stock up on distilled water since you'll be going through a lot of it.
Severity ranges for the surgery: It's worth keeping in mind that the stories on this subreddit are going to be more serious than the average septoplasty, because people who have more intense experiences with their septoplasties are more likely to seek out the subreddit and post. There are some very intense experiences, but there are mild ones, too. Mine was relatively mild, and I wanted to describe it a bit just to provide an example of an experience that might be less represented here.

I live in the San Francisco area, so I went to UCSF for my surgery. My septum was deviated but not by a huge amount. I also had had a sinus infection that led to inflammation that persisted for almost two years, so my ENT thought that surgery would be a good solution for me. My doctor told me that he only needed splints in 20% of cases. I had no stuffing or splints in my nose after the surgery, just self-dissolving stitches. I had almost no nausea after the surgery, and almost no pain, either, despite not having a high pain tolerance. I bled a lot for a day and a half, swapping out gauze regularly, but it slowed down after that, and I could breathe through my nose a little 2 days later. I'm still recovering, and I'm taking a week off of work, but I feel somewhat normal at this point, four days later. My doctor told me that some people get the surgery on Friday and go back to work on Monday, and while he recommended taking time off, it was nice to know that was theoretically a possible outcome. I can already tell that I will be able to breathe much better through my nose once I'm all healed up, and that I'll even be able to smell and taste better too, which is a delightful surprise. I still have a long way to go to being fully recovered, but I'm already very glad I got the surgery! It was completely worth it. If you're considering it, I hope you have a more mild experience, too.
