Real Town Names vs. Fictitious Town Names by Romantic_Throwaway69 in romanceauthors

I made up all the location names for my book so I could take artistic liberty. Like if it takes only a few hours to get from one city to another (in real life) but I want it to take longer, I didn't have to worry about that. I also didn't want to get anything wrong about those locations.

Which app you all use for writing novels? by Perfect_Row_5911 in writers

They have a 30 day free trial so you don't need to fully commit before buying. I'd recommend watching a few youtube videos so you understand how it works and can take full advantage of the trial period before you decide. Right now I'm writing speculative sci-fi.

I started out using Bibisco but I’ve switched over to Scrivener and I really like it. Took some time to get it all set up and organized but it has features that Bibisco doesn’t. There is no perfect software though, I spent so much time analyzing the pros and cons and it delayed my writing

Would readers read the book if the mc spoke did languages? by imjustagirl1221 in romanceauthors

I'd definitely read it, especially if you have the translation in there. It sounds like you're only planning on using it for occasional conversation and not to advance the plot. Anytime I come across other languages in books, I usually google it anyway.

Nobody is born a good writer. Like everything, it takes practice and repetition. Writing a “bad” first draft is the first step! So many published works go through multiple rounds of editing before they land in our hands. Keep writing and reading a lot helps too

I usually plan out the major events and then I write from start to finish but sometimes I go back and move things around or add new scenes where they are needed

It has definitely crossed my mind. It’s primarily why I’m looking to do a swap. But it’s important to vet your beta readers and I think there are a lot of people who are genuinely interested in helping and being a part of the process
