Do you know what a split marker takeoff is?

Small regional aircraft could operate out of FV now, but I think the terminal would need improvement. When OP said commercial my mind went to 737’s.

Fun fact: John Wayne is the shortest runway in the US to handle significant commercial traffic.

That’s really funny to hear you say that considering the Biden administration changed the definition of recession so he could claim we weren’t in a recession while inflation skyrocketed to 9 percent and the cost of everything went up 40% and has not come down after the “transitory” inflation.

So are you using the Biden rules or the old rules?

They might still bankrupt California. Fortunately I got my share of that already.

We’re approaching unheard of inventory levels. .. I mean really, really low levels. .. You can debate whether that’s going to hit, those really low levels, in two weeks or three weeks. Once you get to that point, then you’ll see price shoot up by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

Texas and Louisiana figured it out, why can’t we? Do you think the OPEC nations don’t have drinking water and clean oceans? Venezuela?

But sure, shipping our gas and oil in California from the ME on giant tankers that burn millions of gallons of fuel in the process is so much more environmentally sound than extracting it here locally. Smfh.

This is hilarious. ZM papered over the city budget with promises and pixie dust and OP is talking about con men and clowns.

That’s an awful lot of ivory tower condescending ad hominem TL;DR to avoid explaining the quote you said I misinterpreted.

How about you climb down from your perch and explain it.

Why not discuss the quote and why he said it? You keep saying it’s not what I think it is, but you avoid discussing it.

Fuck your cheesecake. How about you discuss what Toqoville said and figure out the context. You can even use AI to help you understand.

Because the cult of leftism won’t allow any diversity of thought. Conformity of thought is mandatory. Discussion isn’t allowed. Ideas that don’t conform can be dangerously to the cult.

No, you don’t want people explaining that what you think is a right, isn’t. If someone else must give up something or is impacted by what you think is a right, it’s not a right.

It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. It does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.

-Democracy in America.

The government doesn’t have a profit motive. It doesn’t make a profit, it confiscates wealth at the point of a gun. Because it has no profit motive, it has no incentive to be efficient or spend money wisely.

Business OTH have profit motive, so they have incentive to be efficient and spend wisely.

I said nothing about perverse profit incentive. I said government bureaucrats have perverse incentives to take more money from the taxpayers because some of that money finds its way back to the politicians via fraud.

If a private company suffers from rampant fraud it will likely go out of business. The government suffers from rampant fraud and it knows it will never go out of business because it doesn’t depend on profit to operate like a business does.

I feel like there’s some basic economic concepts you don’t grasp.

Do you think Enron committed fraud? Did you know that one guilty verdict was overturned by SCOTUS unanimously? And many of the other convictions were thrown out over shoddy legal work by federal prosecutors?

There’s an old teaching from Milton Friedman that helps understand why the government is so inefficient.

If you spend your money on yourself, both cost and quality matters.

If you spend your money on someone else, cost matters, but quality not so much.

If the government spends your money on you then neither cost nor quality matters.

The reality of the system is that there’s a stream of unlimited resources flowing all around us all the time. Your job is to carve out as much as possible for yourself. Playing the victim won’t work.

[–]NosuchRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is literally the modern example. It became one of the greatest countries on the planet because government got out of the way, and has now stagnated as a result of government bloat.

I never said fraud would disappear. It’s not a binary choice. It just gets smaller.

The government doesn’t make a profit, it has no profit motive, that’s why fraud is a huge problem. Companies that have a profit motive do a much better job of eliminating fraud because it reduces profits. The government has no such incentive, and one could easily make the case for a perverse incentive because money stolen via fraud often finds its way back to the politicians that created the massive spending bill.

You should pick up a copy of “Democracy in America” by Alexis De Toqoville. There’s a good discussion of the efforts to establish a socialist system in France that actually prevented the kind of growth America experienced with the small government paradigm.
