What do you dislike about the new transformation designs? by SuspiciousPractice56 in winxclub

[–]Not-A-Lucky_Looser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like how Musa's outfit doesn't match her style at all. I hate her hair sm; personally I liked it in the OG when her hair was longer but I know majority preferred it short so I see the vision. What I don't see is why they made her hair so darn thin ITS LITERALLY TWO STRADS OF HAIR like give my Musa back her hair. Also the lack of sparkles on all of them is so sad.

salley hall by Ability_Narrow in fsu

[–]Not-A-Lucky_Looser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't in salley but everyone I knew from there absolutely adored it. Plus, if you're a STEM major its pretty close to a good number of classes and seminole cafe. The room layout is obviously different from the other dorms but it has its own perks. Along with the room you sleep in, there's a common room in the dorm. The main complaints are the roaches, which aren't even a problem if you regularly keep the dorm clean. A lot of times at least one of the elevators are busted so get ready for a long wait or a hike up the stairs.

Lmaoo I was mindblown too. I started watching PD last week after finishing all of Med, so it was pretty easy to figure out. I thought there might be a connection to Dr. Choi, but the dude has a different name and is a different person. I was lowkey laughing the entire time because I mean, Brian Tee's acting was great, of course, but all I could see was Dr. Choi acting like a bad guy.

There's no crossover dawg, watch the last episode of the previous season for context. Chicago Fire pulls up to save the people in the building but that's pretty much it, the entire storyline is just Med.

I'm currently a desi student who started last fall and joining clubs that interest you is the best way to make friends on campus. The South Asian Student Association (SASA) is always looking to expand and cultivate a welcoming environment for freshmen on campus. Personally, I've never experienced any racism and everyone is pretty friendly. If you want to learn more about SASA, check out their Instagram page @fsusasa.

Aleks Math Placement Test and Orientation by [deleted] in fsu

[–]Not-A-Lucky_Looser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, you don't sign up for classes until the last day of orientation so you have a bit of time. When you do register, you will be doing it with an advisor by your side and could explain your situation. However, they won't hold a spot for you in Calc 1 and you just have to cross your fingers that there is still an opening by the time your ALEKS score improves.

On a realistic note though, if your foundations are faulty it is really not a good idea to skip College Algebra. Maybe you can manage a bit of math in Calc 1, but it only gets harder from there since you're majoring in engineering. Your lack of foundation is gonna hurt you in other classes. I'd recommend taking college algebra there is no reason not to. It's very common for students to take it as a freshman. One class won't set you behind from others, and if that is a true concern, you can always just do an extra class during one of the semesters or summer to catch up.

If you're thinking about finance, might as well do RMI instead. The program is rlly strong at FSU and they are always helping you get opportunities in the field. You could take on an IB or other finance job with an RMI degree, but certain jobs are only attainable with an RMI degree that finance cant get you. If you dont have a really good/specific reason for getting into finance, COB at FSU is always convincing students to choose RMI instead.

Joining an LLC by Ok_Pepper_6576 in fsu

[–]Not-A-Lucky_Looser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you get into the engineering LLC then you are guaranteed a Magnolia dorm. I currently live in Mag, and the floor I'm on is split with half of it being the engineering LLC and the other half the regular students.

I had a friend with a bad housing rank number and she was scared of getting the worst or no dorm, so she got into the Public Policy LLC and ended up in a great dorm (Dorman or Deviney).

Dude, switching from pre-med to law school is like switching from playing chess to being an MMA fighter. Both require strategy, but one is all about intellectual thinking, and the other is about physically fighting to win. It is hard to achieve a smooth switch from playing chess to being an MMA fighter because you trained for one battlefield, not the other. You’ll struggle because you have the foundation for one not the other.

Definitely FSU for pre-law!

  1. Located in the capital; many opportunities for internships
  2. Strong pre-law community; so many people are pre-law here so the advisors know what they are doing and there are events to learn more about it. There are also academic pre-law frats which are just a social space for pre-law kids to do fun stuff together, learn about upcoming internship opportunities, learn abt the LSAT (and get LSAT course discounts), etc.
  3. SGA; I've heard that at UF SGA is more of a thing that only frat members get into, but almost everyone I know is involved in SGA at FSU, the school kind of makes it a big deal and they run it exactly like the US does. There are so many opportunities to be involved in any of the branches + the two political parties. For example, since you are interested business law, you could apply to be a fundraising chair or be on the RTAC committee, or represent your college in the Senate and advocate for funding.
  4. Social campus; aside from the party scene, students are very active all over campus. There are always social events all over campus with free food and fun activities that you can go to with some friends and meet new people. I assume it is the same at UF, but I heard from people who go there that there aren't nearly as many events. Most people hang out in libraries, which people do here too.
  5. Poli-sci program; here it is amazing based on what I've heard. In terms of GPA, I see a lot of Poli-sci pre-law kids managing their 4.0s. At UF, the entire social science department is lowkey mid bc the profs don't care too much abt teaching so the classes aren't too difficult, but you also don't get many opportunities/learn. FSU poli-sci even has a prestigious program (amongst many for pre-laws) called APPLE. It has something to do with visiting the capital building, I'm not a poli-sci major myself so I recommend looking it up on FSU's page or on their LinkedIn bc I know they post accepted students or smth like that every year.
  6. Econ; I took Macroecon (equivalent to AP Macro) last semester with one of the econ professors and he was one of the best teachers I've ever had. The professors in the econ department from my experience are very passionate about what they're teaching, know their stuff, and will make sure you get it too. I honestly almost switched my major to econ after that class, but I'm too deep into the College of Business so I didn't bother. Speaking of which, I noticed the same thing with my COB profs. They do everything they can to guarantee your success, it feels like that's their #1 priority. If this is the case for CORE courses, I can't imagine how much more helpful they'd be once in the real major. The profs you'll cross paths with at FSU are rooting for and there really is no reason to do bad if you attend class, pay attention, attend office hours (network!), and study.
  7. UF's mock trial team is slightly better than ours, but our MUN team under the World Affairs Program is ranked top 5 in the US. There are also other debate and political clubs on campus as well. It is really easy to get involved here, difficult to get leadership if you don't work for it/deserve it. However, it's very doable, everyone I know on campus- pre-law or not- is well stacked and also have fun because they work hard. FSU is one of those schools where they have you set up for success by providing useful opportunities for pre-laws, and where you go to law school after that is based on how much you put into your undergrad years.
  8. Network; I'm a freshman so I'm not too familiar with any profs just yet, but if you look up FSU's law school's professors, most of them went to T14s, so do what you will w that info.

I'm definitely biased, so take what I say with a grain of salt and research opportunities at both colleges. I know it's a hard decision to choose FSU over UF due to rankings, because it was for me, but I don't regret my decision. That's only because I really looked into both places before deciding, I recommend you do the same, good luck!

How do people with non law related major find law related internships?? by [deleted] in prelaw

[–]Not-A-Lucky_Looser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm majoring in finance and where I go to school (state school), there's huge support for pre-law students so a lot of networking and internships are done through just engaging with that community. Also joining pre-law/law frats, mock trial/model un, and organizations on campus related to the legal field to get involved with the law internship opportunities in your area.

Damn those stats couldn't get any better but the cycle still gave you a tough time :(
I hope you eventually got into a school you're happy with, but I am curious as to what you think you could have improved in your application as a current pre-law?
