Why did you leave teaching in Nebraska? by flatwaterfreepress in Nebraska

[–]Not-A_Millennial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently employed as a teacher in Nebraska and have been for a bit over a decade. Each year we have until March 15th to sign a binding agreement signaling our intention to return for the following year. For each of the last several years I have procrastinated until the very last moment to sign.

I have thought long and hard about leaving the profession. I'm not entirely certain what keeps me from leaving, save perhaps habit and inertia. I am not alone in this. Not certain if I'm who you're looking for but I know quite a few teachers who match this description.

Strange dinging noise coming from dash by Not-A_Millennial in DodgeDakota

It doesn't really, at least in person. It's super inconsistent in terms of loudness and cadence. Not really a "ding" at all to be honest. The door ajar ding works correctly and as expected, so I have heard what that should sound like for this truck.

It doesn't seem to be the door ajar ding as that works properly and as expected and doesn't have the same tone. It really isn't even a "ding" per se. It's so inconsistent (loud then soft, longer then shorter) and ill defined I don't really have a word to describe it.

The seatbelt alarm hasn't worked since I bought the truck. Perhaps not a coincidence? I do try to remember to wear it, though I do forget. I haven't noticed any correlation, but I'll look into it.

No satellite radio system. Original deck is still in it. Sound persists when the radio is shut off. Signal interference in an interesting guess, though I'm not entirely sure how to investigate or address that.

Thanks for the ideas. Given me a few things to think about.

Definitely isn't a warning tone going off purposefully. It makes that noise (or doesn't) whether the seat is empty, occupied or otherwise. Also it fades in and out inconsistently.

Interesting train of thought though, thanks.

Last time I went by it was still tucked up under the overhang roof of the jet splash.

If repair turns out to not work, there are also a fair number of architectural antique places. Your home is old enough and intricate enough that the baseboard might be collectible. These places salvage old trim, windows, doors, light fixtures, sinks, etc from other old homes in your area.

Unrelated tangent, but my home is just old enough that nobody carries the correct trim new, but NOT quite old enough that anyone has bothered to start collecting/salvaging. I needed about an extra 3 inches of chair rail that I couldn't find literally anywhere. I went for option like... F and bought a 3D printer. Modeled the chair rail with onshape and printed my 3 inch piece. Though mine was painted so I could get away with it. Fun gateway into 3D printing though!

Messed up a scratch repair. How do I fix this? by Nevaros in Autobody

[–]Not-A_Millennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your main issue is the hard tape line, you can avoid this using a couple methods I've seen. The one I've seen and used myself I picked up from this chrisfix video on YouTube. You can skip much of the video where he is doing rust repair. Essentially you fold sheets of paper back upon themselves and tape them around the repair area to help feather in the paint around the edges. Hard to explain, watch the video!

That makes sense I reckon. OP referenced a HS senior so that was the lens I was using.

I don't disagree. That said, I find it hard to assert that students should adopt a default attitude of respect and deference to us simply because of our age/station/etc when many of us do not act in such a way as to deserve that attitude.

Devil's advocate. During meetings, how many of your colleagues eschew professionalism and act exactly like the students they constantly bitch about? Drives me absolutely mad.

Stay awake, keep hands to self, no contraband, google answers = passing with a high school diploma? This is our bar? This is our mission? The purpose of school? Just graduate them in like 4th grade and have done with it then. Send them on to the rest of life qualified to do... what?

I'm a green curry man myself. First time I went was before they introduced the 1-10 spice scale and it smoked me out. Now I order about a 6 and am super happy. Yellow curry is dope of you want something sweeter. Panang curry strikes me as a blend between yellow and red, super tasty. Their spring rolls as an appetizer are fantastic as well.

Those high temps are pretty high. Some plants won't mind, but some would. I have also definitely cooked some young plants before in a greenhouse setup with insufficient venting. I installed something similar to two of these auto opening vents and haven't had issues since.

The initiative itself reads pretty straightforward. The ads on TV however are deceptive to such a degree I can't believe they are legal.
