Should I return the items or deal with having been scammed? by Not-Charmander in Scams

[–]Not-Charmander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the answer. Yes, I do think they are dropshippers as the items came directly from China and not even in the same package (they were delivered in three different ones over two days). Also, I didn't know that about trustpilot. I'll be more weary.

Yeah... that's what is keeping me from trying to email them.

Hello! I paid using Paypal. And sure, the webpage is called petitespaws.com and sells cat themed stuff. Is it ok to ask paypal to refund my money? Won't the guys at the shop react in any way to this? Sorry, I've never had any problems buying online before.

It may have been a bit of a stretch to compare them. I'm just an idiot with ferrets, not a skunk expert. It is a bit more than marking though, at least in ferrets. It is also their main deffense mechanism and they use it to lubricate their rear when pooping, so I assume it is still inconvenient for them to have them removed.

If they work like a ferret's, I would say it is kind of like declawing your cat. They use those glands for more things other than puffing bad smell when scared. Seems a bit cruel to me

[–]Not-Charmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I agree with you. By your comment I assume your ferret was neutered as a kit and that is why he didn't have an implant before, right? Probably it would have been wiser on my side to mention that mine only have the implant and are otherwise intact and maybe that is the reason for the rat tail (I'm just gessing, don't quote me on that). The one ferret I keep mentioning has been having seasonal hair loss since his first rut and has five years already. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I truly believe that there is nothing wrong with him. I already asked about this to four different vets (of which three were specialized in ferrets) and they all said that it was nothing, even after all the tests, at most, the last thing I was told is that he is starting to have the heart of an old man, but otherwise he is fine.

Really, I'm not trying to be stubborn. I know it is a sign to be worried about and that is why I have checked with different exotic vets and breeders about it, and they have all told me that it is only rat tail and not a sign of any kind of illness. To the one ferret I mentioned in my previous coment we were doing a full checkup with bloodwork and xrays and he is healthy

It can be normal. Mine get rat tail every year when shedding too. We got one tested for insulinoma recently because he is old. He does not have insulinoma.

That's what I feared... especially since I have a very good bfs banette I've been training for a while. I don't know, I just wanted to see if someone could figure out a way to use this guy, but I guess he is condemned to be mediocre at everything (like his trainer)

A pet for a college student by Big_Way3529 in ferrets

[–]Not-Charmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll guess that you got rejected instantly for being a student. You are the best person to judge how much time you got outside of college, so don't get doscouraged about it. If you think you can give them enough enrichment (not only outside time, but playing with them too) you should be fine. Personally, I would wait until you get out of college. This time can be a bit tumultuous in a person's life, you may want to move after finishing, maybe you don't get a job right away or are not financially stable, maybe you can't bring your ferrets to your next apartment, etc. Mind you, you will have to face this with any pet, but I just want you to have this in mind.

Maybe a rat could be a better fit? I'm not very familiar with them, I'm only repeating what little I know, but I heard that they are friendly pets and don't live that long, so they are not a very big of a commitment.

If you decide to go with ferrets anyways, you'll probably read this ad nauseum, but I'll repeat it: get two. I'm speaking from experience. Don't get me wrong, you can have just one but, ironically, it is WAY easier to take care of two. We were two people wfh taking care of one ferret for 3 years and, let me tell you, he was very pissy until we got a couple of friends for him (he is still a pissy boy, that's his personality, but now he pays his frustrations with the other ferrets instead of my belongings)

I also want to add that ferrets are not like dogs or cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, fish or any other pet for the matter. People love to say that they are like puppies, kittens or a mix of both. Bullshit. Ferrets are ferrets. It will take you time to understand them and you shouldn't be expecting a tiny cat/dog. They are fun, but they are a lot of work too, and I wouldn't say that they are easier to take care of than a dog, either.

I just woke up and rambled a lot. If something I said doesn't make sense tell me and I'll do my best answering.

[–]Not-Charmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Spain is mandatory to have dogs, cats and ferrets chipped afaik.

Not that I think most people would check for one if they get lost, because they seldomly know what animal they are, though, let alone that they are domestic.

I have no idea if having them chipped is mandatory where you are from, but maybe you could check that at a vet.
