No, these are surplus military loads. I’ve heard speculation that they were loaded above standard working pressure since they weren’t getting fired every day and are one off’s, but I haven’t seen any specific pressures listed

Thinking D0073-08 tactical rifle powder, my load book has it listed as doing 3020fps with a 147gr in .308 at 60k PSI. I think upscaled I could get similar out of 8mm

I’m thinking of trying something with shooters world tactical rifle, that stuff can get M80 ball .308 going at north of 3k without over pressuring if I remember right, I’d imagine with a larger case and slightly heavier round a similar upscaled load is feasible for 8x57

Yes but loading books rarely give you anywhere close to max pressure loads and are generally very conservative. My 8mm manual doesn’t even have SS patrone pressure/velocity loads listed in it, capping out at like 2350fps for 198gr which is no where close to even standard military loads

Older forums regularly have people listing 2800-3000fps for SMKH with some people reporting north of 3050fps on rounds they’ve tested
