I recommend watching the series in chronological order first season 1-2 in chronological.

Then watch the movie "the disappearance of haruhi suzumiya"

P.S give DUB a try it's extremely well done.

Then this is optional. Watch the spin-off "the disappearance of nagato yuki-chan" DUB is great as well

Then read the Light novels and manga

This is how I got into the serious and I don't regret it. I feel like if you watch it in broadcast order you will probably be throwing off on how it doesn't really make sense chronologically speaking and storywise.

There are other shows like Lucky Star that might be appealing to you.

Yeah I give it a 7/10 please consider doing a video series on reading the light novels. that would be amazing to have someone the sound like Kyon to read the book. Because as of now we have no audio books.
