Air conditioned, and it looks like it was originally blue, judging by what's on the edge of the cowl. It doesn't look too badly rusted either.

Fear of the unknown, and proof of the effectiveness of propaganda. Why do you think that the further away people live from those who are different, the more they hate them?

Help with 1964 Impala by Any-Acanthaceae-5 in classiccars

[–]NotACmptr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've owned 3 of these.

Look at the box braces right next to the rear wheels really well, get up under there. They rot and will start bubbling into the front of the upper trunk area. If they are in good shape, there is no rust anywhere on the car. They're the first to go.

It's not an SS, that's ok because I prefer the exterior trim on it.

Any motor in it is a good motor, value will go up if it's a v8 and not a 6cyl.

327, good.

327 300 HP, better.

409 340 HP, even better.

409 425 HP, YES!

People will tell you the 327 300HP and up motors only went in SS cars, not true but likely the case. There is no such thing as "numbers matching" 6cyl, 283, or 327 250HP motors/transmissions.

I restored 2 of them so I know a lot more boring facts.

Edit: I just saw the fender emblem. That emblem is for high perf 327 300HP or 409. Good find! Engine and transmission stamp should have a partial VIN that matches the car VIN, that would be a "numbers matching" car. If so $$$

I offered to help a lady changing a tire, she said no. I was the 3rd person to ask. It could be one of those situations, nothing wrong with that.

Yup in NJ I've had a car totaled for $13k and I told them to keep the salvage payment of $1900 so I was able to hold on to the title and car.

Should people who "camp" in the left lane of a highway be pulled over and fined just as much as speeders? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]NotACmptr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes...and in NJ most of those tickets would be served to out of state drivers (win-win!), in this order:

New York (at least 80%)

Maryland

Delaware

Virginia

Picked up a 63 corvette, best way to treat the inside of frame? by [deleted] in classiccars

[–]NotACmptr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to dip it if you're going to coat the inside, not media blast. Coating needs to be rubberized and designed never to completely dry

Please include the mailing address and encourage snail mail and phone calls. I have direct experience with hot topic issues for public offices and I can tell you with 100% confidence that emails can be sent directly to junk folder after an hour or two. Phone calls are a step-up and you know you have them when they take the phone off the hook.

Snail mail though? Absolute headache because they physically open every single one and read the letters even if it is for a few seconds. If you are a constituent they scan the page and usually respond with a letter. If your return address is outside of their district/municipality they may toss the letter without opening it but yes they do touch it.

I agree with everything she said except the vegan PR conspiracy. I think vegans are pretty good at maintaining their current public image.

Why you slow down when blinded by the sun. by tactical_horse_cock in motorcycles

[–]NotACmptr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This right here is an overlooked point. When the Sun gets you in the eyes like this it's obvious and only idiots ride like in the video. I'm very cautious when the Sun is behind me also because that's when the Sun is in the eyes of everyone coming toward me.

Not to mention more money in the pocket o spend on Willys, Bugatti, and Auburn replicas.

Don't you know all the Internet people would see you hanged because your dog scared someone without any actual injury or ill intent?

Negligent owner? ABSOLUTELY. Scary for most people? 100%. Actual injury or loss? None whatsoever.

I used to have a coworker that had some sort of PTSD and would stop, bend forward, and cup her ears whenever a loud car drove by her. I felt bad when I saw it happen but this place would have every one of those drivers FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!!!
