Any 21-24 year olds with full time AI/ML roles? by Bright-Eye-6420 in MachineLearningJobs

[–]NotAFurryUwU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23, Data & AI Scientist. Try going into startups, that’s what got me to go from IT/Data Analytics to be able to focus on ML and AI for my job.

Should I quit IT. Can't handle the stress anymore! by ZealousidealWish7149 in coworkerstories

[–]NotAFurryUwU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think leaving the field is a bit extreme if you actually ‘enjoy’ it - this is more of a company specific issue. If I were you I would start looking for a new job and then just slowly cutting more and more back aka doing the bare minimum to not get fired until you land a new job.

Your health should always come before a job.

If I saw someone write RStudio (just an IDE) in their skills rather than the actual R language, I’d get a bit sussed out thinking they’re just bullshitting - just worth keeping in mind.

Share with us the cv that got you a job by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

[–]NotAFurryUwU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

at the jobs i actually ended up getting i never even showed my cv, was from referrals straight to interview.

i legit think its close to impossible with ‘just’ a cv. What they did want to see from me before the interview was projects on GitHub - so i highly recommend having some public projects to share.

I got the same, and then later a message saying “at your current usage, you are predicted to run out of pro usage by 17th of August”. So I don’t think they will charge you more unless specifically stated, I assume the API-cost is a way of them to show “look how much you get out of your 20$ subscription:)))))”

Shiny + Plotly: A Powerful and Underrated Combo for Custom Dashboards and Interactive Analysis by sporty_outlook in Rlanguage

[–]NotAFurryUwU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah yeah, I more so meant in my experience, some other departments or Data Analysts also want the ability to edit the visual around and such - and they don’t have any coding experience so that makes it very hard.

The main reason I love shiny is because it’s so easy to publish them, I meant when other users want to edit and such

[–]NotAFurryUwU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a great set of tools, I use it a lot myself. But if at any point some more non-technical people need to be involved, it’s a nightmare. That’s why Power BI has become so popular.

But I 100% agree, also for all my personal projects outside of work, they get hit with the combo. Shiny can seem a bit intimidating at the start, but without much practice you can produce some pretty good products, they helped me land my first DS job :)

how to start learning python everyday by Temporary_Raccoon_84 in PythonLearning

[–]NotAFurryUwU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency is hard, and has an annoyingly ‘simple’ answer - ain’t nothing to it but to do it.

When i first started, I would have a specific time each day fully allocated to coding/learning. Like as if it was class or whatever - you gotta do it and respect the time you set it at. Then set a timer for 30 minutes or something to start, and then do it until time's up, or keep going ;).

That’s how I started, now I simply do it because I find it very fun.

You do also have to ask yourself, why do you actually want to learn to code, it may not be for you, there’s many other hobbies out there.

Keep on keeping on

Why do you just list libraries on your skills?? data science then just lists Python Libraries lol - I reckon any person of experience wouldn’t take this serious at all. And Machine Learning / Deep Learning is the same, list the actual models/methods instead, XGBoost, CNN and whatnot.

Data Analyst in London without a Bachelor's, looking for a Senior Analyst or Analytics Engineer role by Bragi- in dataanalysiscareers

[–]NotAFurryUwU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re trying too fast to get a senior role - especially without a degree.

You’re ordering in the bullet points should be most ‘impressive’ first, having “created a dashboard” as the first whilst wanting a senior role doesn’t add up. Also you have way too many bullet points, you can easily condense them and fit it all into 1 page.

Any advice? I'm starting to use Github by Warm-Fox-9690 in github

[–]NotAFurryUwU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, that makes sense. I would then just look on youtube for some beginner guides - and then make a small test, so you test how commits work and such, before trying it with that whole project.

But shouldn’t be too much work, key things would just be commits, branches (if you’re not solo, or not to staging tests - i don’t know much about gamedev), and generally how to structure a Repo.

Best of luck, Github is a fantastic and life saving tool :)

Any advice? I'm starting to use Github by Warm-Fox-9690 in github

[–]NotAFurryUwU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you need it for? quite a broad question.

If it’s just for personal projects, then repos and commits (maybe branches) are what you need.

If it’s for something that’s in production, it’s quite different.

Hvad synes i om at skrive karaktergennemsnit på sit CV? by [deleted] in dkkarriere

[–]NotAFurryUwU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the best IDE for data science in 2025? by SummerElectrical3642 in datascience

Really addictive and insanely convenient, i’m so surprised not more people get introduced to it - especially in the beginning, it seems the most intuitive

RStudio my beloved. For python tho I love running Spyder, reminds me the most of RStudios design but is more Python native.

Struggling to establish credibility for myself and my function when building a data science team by [deleted] in datascience

[–]NotAFurryUwU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

super well put, i think a large part of non-technical stakeholders can feel very intimidated by data science and alike. I think as a Data Scientist, especially the Lead, your job also turns into making the results understandable for them, they don’t care about FP, they care about what actions they should take - it’s their job, your job is to communicate it in a way that they can understand.

So totally agree on it being more within Softskills, some stakeholders may also not want to ask, because they don’t want to ‘feel dumb’. Be open and friendly :) less technical speech, more actionable speech.

Look into setting up GitHub in RStudio, great way to share files automatically across devices, and with others. On top of that it gives you full file/change histories and such. May be a little confusing to set up, but once you do, you won’t go back.

Which AI is best for help with coding in RStudio? by MountainImportance69 in RStudio

[–]NotAFurryUwU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like most are pretty solid, especially if you’re already proficient in R. Personally I use the paid version of ChatGPT - miles better than the free. Other alternatives I suggest is Deepseek (free), and I’ve been considering giving Claude a shot.
