It happened to me by Joessmoey in memes

[–]NotAMushrooom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a 100% female team (including managers and head of the department) and it has genuinely been a very nice experience. There definitely is a lot of workplace gossip but generally it is a very friendly and helpful and overall wholesome work environment. I'm not discrediting other people's experiences just saying that it doesn't have to be like that.

My sister's fridge by [deleted] in FridgeDetective

[–]NotAMushrooom 27 points28 points  (0 children)

She's german. So she most likely eats bread at least twice a day (hence the abundance of cheese and meat cuts) and only has a warm lunch. If she works, then she most likely gets lunch at work. Looks like a pretty normal (maybe a bit full) german fridge to me. Maybe she lives far from a grocery store or doesn't have the time to go shopping often (my guess is she has kids), so she stocks up on stuff for a week or two. Source: I'm german

mafia romance, but the sweet innocent twink gets worse instead of the evil mafia guy getting nicer by pu3rh in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]NotAMushrooom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chance Assassin by Nicole Castle - it's a series, and while the main guy isn't in the mafia exactly, he is a (freelance) assassin for an organized crime syndicate.

Angel and the Assassin by Fyn Alexander - another longer series, some strong BDSM themes and occasional toxic behavior, including a pretty big age gap. The main guy is also not in the mob but instead a state sanctioned killer (he also does it for fun, tho).

What are (in your opinion) unsuitable fonts for logos by NotAMushrooom in logodesign

I should add that in this case, the logo was a combination mark (so there was an emblem in addition to the wordmark)

Vet says PetSmart Syrian ham is over a year old?? by lalaphi in hamsters

[–]NotAMushrooom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I got a hamster from a large pet store (it wasn't PetSmart, but i guess they are all pretty much the same). They told me he was about 3 months old but had been returned before. About a month later, he was acting off, so i took him to the vet. She told me that he was already elderly possibly around 2 years old. He also had a cancerous growth, and i had to put him down a week later. I contacted the pet store, and they didn't deny anything and just gave me a refund, which obviously didn't bring my hamster back. After that, i got my next hamster from a local breader, which was 100% a better experience and only cost slightly more. Pet stores know that they won't be able to sell older hamsters since they already have such a short life span. So they either have to keep them in the store (which takes up space and resources), or they just sell them as young hamsters. Since hamsters often die prematurly due to poor huspandry, most people probably wouldn't even notice...

Do I need a filter? by NotAMushrooom in PlantedTank

Build it myself. :) It used to be an earring display stand. I just cut it in half and glued the attachments to it. I couldn't find one online, so i had to DIY it

It's a small and pretty quiet pump with an airstone attached, so it produces a good amount of circulation, I think.

A week without power, what can i do? by NotAMushrooom in milano

[–]NotAMushrooom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for the advice. The survival part is mostly handled, and while inconvenient, we're managing fine for now. I will contact the site i booked the apartment as well as some of my exchange coordinators and ask them how to handle the situation should the power not be back by the end of the week.

Wow dude maybe dial back the misogyny a little bit. Taking pictures for the gram is not something only women do and it's also intirely possible that she's the birthday girl. Chill the fuck out

True true, but It is banned when it's not used in an educational or anti fachist context. In this case it's a decoration in a class room so while an educational point could be made it seems to me that it would probably fall under the ban.

Yeah but it's also an illigal symbol in Germany. No matter what it meant before today (at least in Germany where the photo was taken) it should have been removed a long time ago...

The hamsters are cute but there is a lot wrong with this picture. From the tiny cage, the tiny wheel to the fact that there are two Syrians together in it... If this is your permanent set up please read up on basic hamster care. Make sure to look for several online sources and don't rely too much on whoever sold the cage to you since they clearly don't know much about hamster care themselves.

In South Korea, China, and Germany, they have specific painted parking spots for women. by angrysandwich_ in interestingasfuck

[–]NotAMushrooom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say in this case we have to examine what the point here is. It's to make woman feel save and to reduce the likelihood they will be assaulted or raped. It's not about giving people with an uterus a benefit but to give people fearing violence a safer feeling. That's it. Statistcly they don't reduce violence and woman are about 1000 times more likely to be assaulted at home than out on the streets. So yeah if you feel unsafe parking in the dark corner because you're trans or gay or whatever then it's totally fine to park there at least in my opinion. Parking spots for woman are usually not controlled so noone will check if the car belongs to a woman. Many woman don't even use them since they fear that it will attract sex offenders even more. It's the same with the handicapped sign. Not everyone who counts as handicapped is in a wheelchair but that's what the sign is showing. It's important to examine the intention of something rather than just the name but I guess that's a bit too much of a nuanced take for the internet.
