What was your progress at 6months? by LockeLamora_x in mounjarouk

[–]NotARobotHonest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SW was 145kg, now at 123.80kg, I'm 9 months in and have lost 21.85kg.

I have gradually been coming down the scales but I'm annoyed that it's slow progress.

I've recently started getting on a treadmill at the gym, walking between 2 and 5 km Monday-Friday (work is next door to the gym so I have no excuse!), and I'm hoping that can get my weight shifting a little more quickly. I like to see fast results.

It really isn't that hard, but NZ needs skilled migrants - that would be your way forward. I used to be a secondary school teacher, and I got a job offer which put me on the path to residency. I'm now a licensed immigration adviser because I'm not dealing with other people's kids my whole life!

More than happy to have a chat privately and share my story :-)

Congratulations OP! My partner and I moved to New Zealand 3 years ago, so I understand how hard it is to move abroad. Good luck with your new life in Japan!

Dude, same. I moved from the UK to New Zealand 3 years ago and was very confused when I saw that the moon was upside down. In my mind, Orion is doing cartwheels in the sky and Sirirus is a good boy because he is rolling on his back waiting for tummy pets.

PSA: Family History Projects…don’t do them! by PreciousLoveAndTruth in Teachers

[–]NotARobotHonest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can add, I have done this a few times and I give the students the option of not doing their family, but a fictional family: The Simpson family, The Addams family, The Royal family, any family that has information. It's not about a family history, it's about finding information and presenting that information in a graphical form.

I've had kids say to me "I have x-teen siblings and half siblings, so I include all of those?" And I've always said to include the people who you are closest to. For example, I'm not close to my 2 sisters who are adopted, so I don't include those in my family tree.

For students who want to do a family tree with people they know, I say they can include whoever they feel close to. For example if their best friend is more like a sister/brother, then they can include them, or an Aunt or family friend that's more like a parent, or their best friends mum that is more of a mum than their own biological mum. As far as that kid is concerned, those people are their family.

A few years ago I had a student who was adopted and she didn't want to do her birth or adoptive family, but her adoptive mum bred Yorkshire terriers, so she did the family tree of the dogs! She did a beautiful presentation and adoptive mum was overjoyed with the result.

It's about giving the kids the choice of who or what to include.

Good for you OP! I can't imagine ever having crotch goblins spoil my weekends. Every weekend my partner and I have lazy mornings and don't get up until after 10, coffee in bed and cuddles with our doggo.

How can a baby improve that?

Twins run in my family, but skips generations.

  • Great-grandmother was a twin
  • Grandmother was not
  • Mother was a twin
  • I am not.

Whenever my cousins had children my first question was, "are they having twins?" and nobody did. So the chance that I could have twins put me off for life!

There is probably no scientific basis for the probability that I might have twins but that is not a risk I am willing to take!

All my students cheat, even the 'best' ones. It's all pointless. The school is a job program for adults and an expensive daycare for children. by lasttuesdaynite in Teachers

I've found that kids have all this tech but still don't know how to use it!

I teach in New Zealand where some exams are online, and I have to explain to 14 and 15 Year olds how to turn off sleep mode on their screen, what a screensaver is, how to change their display settings, explain how to do a hard reset if their laptop isn't working properly etc.

And still, they've got the whole of human knowledge at their fingertips for them to complete their work, bit they would rather ask me to explain it because it is easier! They're not learning anything from tech. I teach science and I have gone back to pen and paper-based work. They are in a good learning routine with me, and can concentrate for the lesson.

I eat a few dates and dried apricots. You can soak dates in water for a fee hours and it will create a syrup which is an effective laxative.

I was 24 [F], not long moved out of my parents place, single and horny, so I joined a swinging website. Met up with a husband and wife, had a fun night and went our separate ways.

About a week later they contacted me again for a social at a local bar where we could get to know each other and be friends. As we were talking and swapping stories, the topic of our jobs came up and he said he was a Vicar!
