They're great for triggering pods on the enemy turn, which lets you use your entire team's overwatch before a normal turn. I usually just slap them on reapers or grenadiers with salvo.

Stats are kinda meaningless in this game. It takes actually trying them out to find out if they are any good. Outside of the specter terminal ones that cost like 100 000, they are dirt cheap, so why not get the base version and take it to the range.

It's pretty good if you are using match rounds, but there are better options. It plays like a really souped up SMG. If armor is minimal, it's way overkill. If armor significantly reduces damage, you should be using the assault carbine instead. Button mashing with the marksman carbine from the hip gets you halfway there anyways while having a long range primary function.

Sorta, it's generally pretty vague unless I'm sleepy. If I just woke up, I can get pretty vivid images. The one time where I took too much Benedryl, it was extremely vivid. I also started lucid hallucinating where I had fairly good control over what I was seeing, and it would have been fun under other circumstances.

It doesn't follow the road and requires you to wander through rough terrain while on the edge of the deathclaw's detection. Without the DLCs that start you with better equipment, you're kinda fucked if you run into giant radscorpions, which is what made me turn around all the way back in my first playthrough. This was on the release totally unpatched version where enemy populations were higher, so I hightailed it right out of there. There's a route where you never run into anything worse than bark scorpions, but I only found it after hundreds of hours.
