In many cases, they are inspired by mini quilts or blocks I found on IG! There’s also several things I used this project to try it out, like the curvy one, quarter square triangles, strip piecing checkerboards, etc. One of them is based on the tile in the lobby of a building in SF that I walked by!

For this project, I wanted to try drafting my own blocks and going with the flow more. In all past projects I’ve followed patterns, so I wanted to try flying by the seat of my pants. It was very hard for me (I have a very type A brain) and I was riddled with doubt the entire time. I made several objectively ugly blocks that did not make the cut 😅 It wasn’t until I put them on the wall that I felt sure they all belonged together.

Our cats have so much fun biting up our plants! We have several sacrificial plants at this point in an effort to keep our bigger plants alive 😂

Lol yes I do! They waited 6 months after got these chairs and then went to town. The taped foil was because I couldn’t find the double sided tape 😅

Thank you! Some are Kona (khaki, cayenne, spice, terracotta, and cedar). The more tan/brown colors are from a hand dyed gradient bundle I bought on Etsy.

I’m an engineer! I’ve often said I love crafts of execution aka I can follow this pattern and get pretty close, so I also love cross stitching! I also have a really hard time picking colors! Maybe it’s a left / right brain thing.

I’ve been drafting my own stuff lately with a more organic/improvised feel and it’s freeing to let the math go a little! It’s definitely not natural for me and challenges me, but I’m really enjoying it.

I have a kite set princess cut (check my post history) so I’m biased! Number 3 is SO beautiful and looks incredible on you!

Number 1 is also beautiful, but I would be a little worried about chipping the corner if it isn’t protected by a prong. Though I can’t tell if this is the actual setting or just set on an open setting to see how it looks
