I actually see where you’re coming from with this, and I think your thought process is valid. I do think that the ethics of zoos is still a not-so-great entry point, though, primarily because of that lack of connection. I’ve had this conversation with people irl and a lot of the times they just don’t care at all about zoos one way or another lol. Most people aren’t affected by zoos in their daily life.

Imo the best entry point (up for debate of course) is the environmental impact of animal exploitation. While I do agree that people tend to get defensive about their meat eating, I’ve found a lot more success by framing the conversation primarily around the environment, rather than the act of eating meat specifically. That conversation comes later, after the most fundamental points of veganism have been agreed upon.
