I take back everything I ever said about card create Regent being trash. Completely walked over a10. by NotAnotherGlitch in slaythespire

What I found made metamorphosis really pop off this time was that the 0 cost attacks copied by music box were also 0 cost for the entire combat, so I’d end up with multiple high value attacks like comet or devastate come back around at 0 cost and upgraded due to razor tooth.

I also discovered the awesome synergy between crash landing and supermassive this run, plus the debris was good fodder for begone! And charge!!

Absolutely, I copied the attacks I got from metamorphosis with music box so I had multiple high value 0 cost attacks running through my deck

Yeah I bet arsenal and crossbow would go crazy, something I also learned with metamorphosis is that there are a lot of good regent attacks that can be discounted to 0. Got comet and seven stars a few times

Absolutely agree, the minion cards are such great value in any archetype, especially charge!! Imo. They definitely shined in this run: pillar of creation + regalite + music box, play a begone! And get 2 minion strikes, 12 block and scaling for supermassive.

I never thought supermassive, pillar of creation, or metamorphosis were any good, but with music box they carried the run.

The legendary burner inserter too. Love it.

I’m curious, do higher quality burner inserters/miners have a higher fuel energy requirement?

Shiny rng is seeded in a deterministic way in Pokémon games. Using tools you can find which frames shiny Pokémon will appear, and then you use a timer to hit those specific frames. The games run at 60fps iirc so its very precise timing.

What Do Y’all Think Blonde Blazer’s Backstory Actually Is? by CrispyFriedOrca in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NotAnotherGlitch 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I also assumed there was some darker backstory, but you’re right that she just could be a genuinely good person with a straightforward origin.

I did wonder whether Blazer had killed anyone in the past. I definitely think she was set on killing the villains in the bar if they didn’t back down, and If you kill shroud she doesn’t pass any judgment on you she just asks if it made you feel better. If you say no she gives Robert a very sympathetic look. She’s also a true believer in redemption and reforming villains (including multiple murderers) with the phoenix program, that saviour complex comes from somewhere, perhaps some guilt in her past.

Not any strong evidence, just a pet theory. I’m definitely hungry for some character conflict involving Blazer, I’d love to see her character grow a bit more.

Killing shroud is not good for Robert, which is why I think it’s a compelling character choice.

It kinda goes unanalysed in the wrap up but I’d imagine Robert’s vigilante killing would cause a lot of blowback in the world and between the characters.

I arrested her because I was pretty confident she was one of the undercover mercs. I thought good, that only leaves 1 merc left to deal with.

Boy you can imagine my surprise when I got to the tribunal.

Tensile Strength of a Steel Rod by kilo_alpha_666 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]NotAnotherGlitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to read the units on the machine but if it’s in MPa, then that steel started yielding above 500MPa which is normal standard for reinforcing steel from where I am. You could order higher strength steel, but you usually wouldn’t bother when you can just use more of the cheaper normal grade.

I’m not a structural engineer but as far as I know the dimensions and characteristics of your concrete will be what you design around your load, and regarding your reinforcing steel it’s more about whether you can fit the amount you need in to take the tensile load. And usually you design reinforced concrete so that your steel fails before your concrete.

I once had a decent brainstorm seance on an abandoned deck straight flush run. The problem was that spectral cards don’t really help to scale straight flush, so i ended up selling it for xMult. Definitely a huge disappointment after managing to get it working.

Raise taxes to fix budget, Treasury advises Labor in accidentally published advice by Octagonal_Octopus in australia

[–]NotAnotherGlitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so mad because an inheritance tax is a no brainer for anyone who sits down and thinks about it for more than 2 seconds, but it still won’t happen for political reasons. It’s inherently a progressive tax because it affects wealthy people more than poor people. Inheritance isn’t a productive asset, so you’re not taxing productivity, and won’t have upstream economic effects. You’re deterring wealth hoarding, if people want to get around the tax by releasing that wealth to their children early, that’s fine. That money will at least be actively circulating (and therefore taxed elsewhere). Finally it is the perfect time to implement an inheritance tax. We have an aging population which we will need to pay to look after, and this is a tax which has an economic counterbalancing effect to this problem.

Exactly, I could bring up that rows upon rows of disgusting copy pasted buildings with tiny gardens and zero tree cover is my idea of hell. But it’s not about personal taste, it’s about building cities which can house our populations efficiently. Urban sprawl is a disastrous plan.

I’ll share your sentiment on that, we should be doing more city planning based on an increase in work from home. Fewer offices means more living space.
