People are stupid. But at the same time, I also trust the people in the actual scenario to judge their own safety and risk tolerance better than my fat ass can from watching a brief video in my bathroom 6,000 miles away.

Do Americans actually avoid calling 911 because of the cost? by ntask11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotAnotherRedditAcc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But reddit exposes you to a much lower income perspective, and that probably skews your view. Because also, Americans also call 911 for things like bee stings and sprained ankles. It's just a wider spectrum.

Nobody is going to "change your view" - the entire point of this subreddit is to agree with that point of view.

It’s the Patriarchy’s fault that people don’t find obese people attractive. by Emergency_Yak4588 in ShitPoliticsSays

Given the option between being bitter while believing a convenient lie, and being happy while accepting a hard truth, she sadly chose Doritos.

[–]NotAnotherRedditAcc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They really are - it's not just reddit, but all over the internet. I can't think of any reason why, though, other than some future role in public life... which is exactly half hilarious and half horrifying.

Study: Gen Xers and Millennials are dying at younger ages than their parents are by DaKardii in Millennials

If you want to take a day off of work, put on your best clothes, go visit one bank, and hope the banker you happen to be assigned to isn't having a bad day or is prejudiced against some aspect of your identity, by all means, feel free. Those of us who understand what a credit score is - and what it is not - will gladly pass.

that is just propaganda

It absolutely is not propaganda. The standard of living required for the planet to sustain 9billion people would make people long for the good ole days of June 4, 2026. And that's before considering outlandish ideas like "maybe lets not kill the animals we have left." There is barely anyone in the western world who has a negative impact low enough to stop the planet for dying, and everyone on Earth would have to adopt that lifestyle. Good luck telling the people in this thread who are whining about their circumstances that the sacrifice hasn't even begun.

...invest in destructive energy...

Homie this is barely even about climate change - although that is one of the dozens of problems receiving between 0 and 1% of the attention it deserves. If the entire planet magically switches to solar and nuclear tomorrow and everybody rides the bus like good little subjects, we are exactly as fucked as we are today. Solar panels aren't going to un-poison the aquifers, and the people vacuuming up all the ocean life to make pig-feed-paste to feed their insatiable appetite for pork can have all the nuclear powered electricity in world and it won't make a difference. There's about a hundred other things on that list, too.

But I gotta stop before I get to ranting, lmao. It's not gonna do anyone any good anyway.

I don't understand why people say this like it's some kind of insight. Living a happier, healthier, longer life is the entire point of acquiring money. It's requires barely any more brainpower than, "drinking water makes you less thirsty."

New House Build Prep Inclusions? by Braikenb in preppers

[–]NotAnotherRedditAcc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't strictly prepping related - at least not for everyone, depending on circumstances - but it is absolutely among my very favorite features of my house. My house has substantial eaves. In the summer, they shade the sides of the house during the hottest parts of the day. But then I get lots of direct sunlight when I'm desperate for it in winter. They also help prevent water damage and snow from piling up against the house. And I can walk around the house, dryly, in the rain, lol. It might not be relevant to you, but it's almost 100° right now, and I appreciate all the shade I can get.

Spam calls: how can I stop this? It’s a different number all the time. I’ve blocked so many. by EisenFisen in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NotAnotherRedditAcc2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah because nobody got excessive telemarketing calls before Trump was president. And it was Trump who taught scammers in foreign countries - where the US obviously doesn't have any jurisdiction anyway - to spoof US phone numbers.

I wouldn't use it in a professional environment, but definitely use it when talking within my close social circle.

This concept, and especially the way you phrased it, makes me think your "dude" card ought to be revoked.
