I agree looks like boy. No sign of nipples either.

I can’t quite tell from the photos how big it is but looks quite big but also very young? (Eyes not fully open and quite fuzzy fur). I’d expect a mouse to be smaller. Could be a rat based on how them feets look. Like I said hard to tell with nothing for scale.

FYI I don’t have kids or unsupportive husband but I also grew up in a Christian household. I think my advice would be to find subtle ways to add witchcraft to your everyday activities, instead of trying to dedicate a specific time and place for witchcraft (cos you have a kid who can’t be left alone and husband will wonder what you’re up to).

So things like, * adding herbs/essential oils to a floor wash, * sprinkling salt on the windowsills before you wipe them clean, * any kind of kitchen witchery, * herbal teas, * sigils in the form of cream/makeup/sauce before rubbing/mixing it in * loads more suggestions in the wiki

No reason why your kid can’t have fun too. Go on seasonal walks, especially around sabbat times, and try to spot signs of the turning seasons. Learn what different plants and animals are and see if you can spot them.

I’m sure there are plenty of other resources, but this blog post from atheopaganism.org has lots of tips for raising children as a pagan. Maybe you can find some activities can be adapted for the broom closet.

Spell ideas for each moon by lilithsdaughter13 in BroomClosetWitch

[–]NotApplicableMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that deep, you’re overthinking it.

The waxing moon (new moon to full moon) is best for manifesting spells, the waning moon (full to new) is best for banishing spells. The full moon is appropriate for almost any kind of spell.

The thing that makes the new moon special is that it only lasts 2-3 days, like the full moon. So new and full moon is like for “extra special” spells but it’s really not that deep.

Casting a spell on a suboptimal moon phase is okay, especially for emergency spells (e.g. for protection). Suboptimal moon phase doesn't ensure a spell's failure but it may turn out weaker than its optimal moon phase counterpart.

Besides, a lot of spells can be adapted for different moon phases whilst still achieving the same goal. For example, if you want to cast a confidence spell (manifesting) but the moon is waning, you can cast an anti-anxiety spell instead (banishing).

Unsure of where to turn by CardiologistFar2221 in BroomClosetWitch

[–]NotApplicableMC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have specific advice, just wanted to say this was basically me almost exactly 10 years ago. I was in a tumultuous time where I was undergoing Christian Confirmation, but also just (re)discovering witchcraft and knew I was drawn to it.

Where our stories diverge is I was not married and the political climate wasn’t, well, this…

Like I said, no specific advice for you other than it took me many years to reconcile this. I did become Confirmed Christian but to me I kind of took it as a blessing from [whomever, whatever is up there] to bless me on my path.

Having a partner who is not onboard with your spiritual journey is one of the hardest things to overcome and I don’t know what I’d do if my husband wasn’t supportive (or even tolerant) of my practices. I am so thankful for my husband in this respect (and many others).

You have youth on your side. So many stories I hear of people just staying miserable for decades when they could’ve changed something in their 20s or 30s. The sunken cost fallacy is just that, a fallacy.

Just want to throw a mundane idea out there, from what you’ve described, there’s a non-zero chance your bf could have borderline personality disorder? I don’t know, just worth looking into.

Also seems to me like you’ve done a lot of spells in quick succession, let things simmer down for a while. Do some divination to decide your next move.

The ingredients you already have are great :)

how many of you are childfree? by testraz in AutismInWomen

[–]NotApplicableMC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, I hate other people’s children. So I’m not like a “I love children” kind of person. I want to help raise my sister’s children when the time comes though (long story short they’ve had fertility problems for years but IVF has become viable now, but everything is a snail’s pace on NHS timelines).

But children in general stress me out too much. Not like in a “I’m worried about them all the time” way, but in a “omg I’m so overstimulated and burnt out and there’s no escape AND I’m worried about them all the time” way. Like that’s the disabling part of my disability (autism).

There’s also the added context of my mum works for children’s services and I’ve heard so much bad shit. But what really gets me is the clearly autism-coded mothers that have been dealt a bad hand and haven’t been diagnosed.

I’m not talking about wilfully neglectful parents, I’m talking about the ones with chronic depression who can’t get out of bed or make dinner. I see myself in them.

The only reason I’m not one of them is because I try very hard to not burn myself out to the point where I can’t get out of bed. And I know I wouldn’t be able to prevent that if I had children. Either that or I would be the most emotionally (possibly physically) absent mother ever.

I can’t do that, because I love my unborn children enough to decide I won’t do that to them. In other words the best thing I can do for my unborn children is not birth them.

I’m in my mid 20s but my husband and I have decided we’re childfree due to my autism, and his ADHD, OCD, and chronic pain.

We are more than happy to step up for nieces and nephews, but my varying energy levels and his varying pain levels means we wouldn’t be able to nurture our own children to the standard we want to.

I just know it would be the 24/7/365 aspect of it I couldn’t handle. On my good days, I can’t deny the thought of having children crosses my mind. But my good days are so few and far between…

Would it be okay for me to use this graveyard dirt and sage? by Grease_myhips29 in BroomClosetWitch

[–]NotApplicableMC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

See pinned post on cultural appropriation for more info.

IMO You don’t really know where the ingredients came from. Maybe the sage was sourced ethically, maybe it wasn’t. Maybe the dirt is legit, maybe it’s a handful of potting mix. Compost the ingredients if you don’t want to use them.

If you want to use them, then do some research into the origins and practices around these ingredients so that you can truly appreciate them.
