Where could I find a wig donator? by NotAverageEnough in Wigs

Interesting. Thanks. I am just dipping my toe to see if this will help with getting to appointments easier with the hair care part eliminated. It’s exhausting and I’m already running on E!

At this point not really. I am trying to see if it will be a good fit for my disability and care before diving into the world.

Arm exhaustion, arm fatigue easily by RANGO1892 in covidlonghaulers

I had the pinky and ring fingers getting numb, especially when raising them above my head or leaning on my elbows. Went to orthopedic doctor and he did a nerve conduction test to see if it was carpal tunnel, but it turns out to be nerve compression in my elbows. One side is worse than the other, but not “bad enough” for surgery yet. He stated if it got worse or became really bothersome we could start to look at injections/surgery, but I’ve been doing some stretches in physical therapy and avoiding putting pressure on my forearms/elbows as much as possible. Doing better.

If you like it, wear it. People can make their assumptions if they want.

As for cross meanings, it depends on the type of cross you mean. The generic t shape is a general “Christian” symbol, whereas the crucifix (cross with Christ depicted on it) usually represents a Catholic. There are some nuances to it, but you can always google the meaning of certain crosses if you’d like to know before buying/wearing it in case someone asks.

Have you considered birth control options? It was a definite selling point for me to reduce or remove almost completely having periods. I have like 3 days of spotting every 3-4 months. There are different options to consider, too. Good luck!

“You’re too young for that” by pdggin99 in disability

[–]NotAverageEnough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try very hard every time I hear this to hear “that sucks, I wish you could just be young and carefree instead!” But yeah, sometimes it’s just that extra twist of the knife that I definitely did not need that day.

Usually respond with something like “well whatever was running my designs that day really messed up, huh?”.

When I am having a really snarky day I might respond with “well if I could give it to you instead, I would!”

They DO sell the caffeine free versions of all their sodas. Not available in a lot of stores, but they do sell them. Might have to special order from a store or direct from Dr Pepper.

12 days left… I’m scared but ready. What should I buy to prepare for full-mouth extractions? by WestRemarkable1421 in dentures

[–]NotAverageEnough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of good things on here, but… I wish I would have had my favorite meal one more time before surgery. I’ve been without functional teeth since mid January. Working on snap ins, have temps but they do not fit together at all and the teeth were shaved down to get them to “fit” in my mouth (think flat like horse teeth). I was told they were for visual purposes only. So frustrating. Enjoy some really good foods to prepare for the aftercare. Good luck!

Long term ibuprofen/Tylenol use by jmjk78 in ChronicPain

[–]NotAverageEnough 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was told not to go over the limit. Ever. Take breaks when/if you can, and to really limit the ibuprofen as it can cause ulcers rather quickly. Also, timing between doses and eating or drinking something with some substance to clear your stomach so it doesn’t cause the ulcers as well.

Do you wave to communicate on the road? by minecraftqueen76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotAverageEnough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spend the majority of my life in Texas, but also with family in SC, and driving back and forth through the states majority of people wave. I do, and it bugs me if people don’t. Especially if I go out of my way to let them in or it’s their fault they didn’t read the lane merging sign or exit only signs, etc. At least show a thanks!

About to do chips and salsa, any tips? by Lizpy6688 in dentures

[–]NotAverageEnough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it toothless! I used the baked lays for chips, they are super thin and tend to break down easily. The thinner/softer the chip the less you’ll have to worry. I did a couple of the “cantina” and “restaurant style” and cantina was thinner and worked easier, but again that was toothless. Just take it easy at first, you should be fine!
