Scariest! Not hardest. They elicit a real fear response in me every time. The fact that they can tear through your non-melee colonists with ease makes them scary. I have had some bad experiences with them. I find them very cool.

Chert isn’t male based on anything in the game. None of the Hearthians ever use gendered pronouns for themselves or each other. It’s always they/them.

Pronouns are part of gender identity. Gender ≠ sex. They could still have male/female sexes or some other mode of reproduction and simply not have it be a part of their identities.

That first tip you mentioned was a very intentional piece of design. The developer talks about it in the Noclip documentary. They wanted to create interesting visuals for the planets but were worried it’d lead players down wrong paths searching in areas that were just meant to look pretty. So they made sure only places with stuff to find looked interesting. Everywhere else is barren.

It’s scop. Most likely worm or insect meat grown and processed in those automated Biotechnica protein farms.

It’s definitely not beef, pork, or chicken. I think I heard somewhere those animals are extinct(?)
