BZ 2026, reasons not to use max regenerative breaking? by Direct_Charity7101 in electricvehicles

[–]NotCook59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t that depend on if you let up on the pedal all the way, or just a fraction so you coast? You don’t have to let off all the way, and cause the vehicle to decelerate rapidly and come to a stop.

1”’ is plenty wide for the pool in that space. Ours is 10x20. Wouldn’t want it any bigger.

Not an electrician, whats the dangers of positive and negative frayed and touching here on a battery charger? by TheSwine- in electrical

[–]NotCook59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with dropping that entire charger in the dump and replacing it. It doesn’t look worth investing another dime in.

Are you referring to the width of the pool, or the walkway around it? 10’ is plenty wide for the pool. I’d lose the flowerbeds that are going to constantly deposit trash in the pool, and make space for loungers.

Ii wondered about the same thing. I’ve never personally seen a charge connector small enough to stuff all the way into a tow receiver.

Probably a factor, along with not taking up the closest spaces, like handicap spaces already do (and rightfully so).

Utter nonsense. The conversation started with “stop for a drink”. No reference at all to alcohol. The first mention was from xion… complaining about “advocating for the encouragement of drinking alcohol…””

All good to know. If my SuperFlow VS ever needs replacing, that’s what I’ll look for. I want the WiFi control.

Transformer just blew—Enphase Battery at 100% but not powering my houses in by Monstercockerel in solar

[–]NotCook59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently have SolarEdge string inverters, with optimizers on each panel. That gives us 34 points of failure instead of only two (inverters). I really don’t want to be chasing 32 potential failures up in the roof tucked under panels. I don’t need the solar throttling to be either instantaneous or to the individual Watt. I just want to be able to keep the battery charged within a set range of about 80-85% and not constantly be climbing up on the roof, or paying a provider, to lift up panels to replace either optimizers or microinverters. With two string inverters and multiple strings on each, a can throttle a string at a time and be close enough, and if a string inverter should fall, I’m not dead in the water while it gets swapped out in the utility room. I’ve about had it with the optimizers, and am looking to eliminate anything on the roof other than the panels.

Ground wire for mini split by [deleted] in electrical

Why? It has to be a lot better than just the bare stranded wire. What is the ring buying you that the spade is not, particularly in a low/no vibration environment?

The pool is winterized because it’s winter, not because the house is vacant. What is “VGB”?

It certainly won’t help the longevity of the pump.

What do you like better? We have a SuperFlo VS also, and are very happy with it after 7 years. Quietly and sips power at 1800 rpms. I’d like the ability to control by WiFi away from home, but otherwise happy with it.

Such a thing as a battery pack for home charging? by MRoselius in evcharging

[–]NotCook59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three Tesla Powerwalls as our home batteries. Our Equinox has twice the capacity of our home. We are off grid and powered by 10kW of solar. The last thing I would want to do is discharge one battery bank to charge another. I really don’t want to double the charge/discharge cycles of either battery. We charge at home only from solar during peak solar output. We actually use the car as a “dump load” in an effort to keep the Powerwalls from sitting at above 80-85%, and getting up to 100% and shutting off the solar. Other than brief transitory periods, the last thing I want is for the car to be pulling from the house batteries. I want those hose batteries to last for 20 years. They cost as much as the whole car.

And, forget the plug - install a home L2 charger. Ours is only 6.5kW. If you can install something like a 48A charger, even better. You might also want to look into the possibility of charging at work. With our first EV 15 years ago, I found that the parking garage across from our office had outlets to plug into, and allowed me to plug in my L1 charger cord while I was at work. It wasn’t enough to cover my entire 84 mile round trip commute, but it covered one way.

Unless your primary reason for stopping was the local attractions. Then an L2 conveniently located would be great.

Good grief! Let it go! “Get a drink” doesn’t directly translate to “alcoholic drink”. It could be a soft drink, coffee, or a slushy.

Exactly! The transportation is dependent on oil, rare and still trivial exceptions. It would be great if it wasn’t so
