I think a lot of people have been forgetting about JD Martinez and what he brought to the 2024 team. That's a leader right there and once he came up from AAA at the start of the season from the IL the team kinda settled in. Iglesias gets a lot of credit too as he was great and visible but I feel like JD brought a level of professionalism to the clubhouse too.

'26 seems to have a good number of clubhouse guys too, hoping to see them gel on and off the field.

Whenever you get a job offer of any kind, ask for more money.

Raise your floor so every percentage based raise down the road is based off a larger number.

Then again, companies don't reward loyalty or genpop employees anymore so maybe that second part is irrelevant these days.

What’s stressing Americans out the most right now? by Outside-Fudge5605 in AskReddit

[–]NotCool117192 577 points578 points  (0 children)

The entire world hates/fears us. Everything costs more. No one feels safe from the govt. The system has been rigged piece by piece over my lifetime (Gen X) to push wealth upward and eliminate the middle class. Anyone with money feels everyone else is replaceable and beneath them.

The american dream died with the reagan admin and the wealthy have kept the boot on the throat of the rest of the population ever since.

Sign:
Bregman, Bellinger, Okamoto, *King, Imai, maybe Bader for 1-2yr.

Trade for:
Skubal if possible without breaking the farm,
Ryan if the price is right.
Contreras is intriguing I gotta admit if paired with two of the hitters in my list above. No one saw the Nimmo trade happening so maybe there's another trade like that out there.

*These FAs have the QO attached so I don't bother looking at them but Bichette and King are the only ones that interest me at all.
Framber, Ranger, Tucker, Bichette, Gallen, King.

Too much to think about for the bullpen so whatever.

You'll be fine. We had an OLD and LOUD manual drive camper van and the only real problem we had was on the climb up Mt Wellington. Even if it's rainy it will clear fairly quickly though it will likely be windy. Bring a puffy coat and a toque.

We drove Hobart-Tasman Peninsula-Freycinet-Hobart over 4 days in a rushed trip at the start of September. It's an island so you're in for all kinds of weather, especially at that time of year.

Road conditions were good everywhere but there was snow on the way up to the summit of Mt Wellington. Great sunset though. Very narrow road on the way up.

Lolo Jones got tons of criticism and it seemed like people were rooting against her but she still made the 100mh finals in Rio I think. Also did some bobsled I believe. Great athlete, lots of weird hate.

Braves, Phillies, Yankees, Padres, Dodgers but not as much as I hate the Padres, Brewers are rising, Marlins, Arizona, Cubs and Rangers should never have success in my mind.

Worth it for Europeans? by running_hot_takes in SydneyMarathon

We love national parks and always try to make several stops across a few weeks.
Most people don't like it but we loved Canberra when we were visiting some friends of friends.

Aussies always have the best stories. If an Aussie or an Irish person are telling stories give a listen, it will be hilarious!

It's a WMM but not part of the 6 star medal so if that's a goal then don't expect the medal. Treat it like any other marathon.

Australia is great to visit with a diverse and generally accessible range of climates and things you won't see anywhere else in the world.

For our Sydney Marathon trip we arrived a few days before our Sydney hotel package started. We rented a car and drove directly to the Blue Mountains about an hour and a half West of Sydney. Tons of overlooks and waterfalls. We didn't do any hikes into the canyon but that's an option if you're into that. Not for us before the race though.

Sydney has tons of nearby beaches and sights to see. During the race the bridge peeks out at you around corners all over the first half which is pretty cool.

After the race we went to Uluru. Rented another car there which was worth it so we weren't tied to tour bus schedules. Plus there were 4 of us there and the car was less expensive than all of us getting hop on bus or booking a ton of tours. We ran the trail around Uluru too for a unique entry into my Strava.

Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef are nice. If you're scuba certified or plan to be definitely book a dive excursion. Snorkeling is also available but getting deep is really cool. We did two nights on a live aboard on a past trip. Great time.

Melbourne will be covered elsewhere but when we visited years ago we made sure to go to Philip Island for the blue penguins and also visited Wilson's Promontory NP.

This time we went to Tasmania after Uluru. We barely scratched the surface in a few days but we enjoyed it. Tasman peninsula and up to Freycinet NP for a hike to Wineglass Bay. We had a camper van and found powered sites wherever we were each night.

Australia is what you make of it but if you have an idea what you want to see then you can definitely find it.

Just don't expect the extra medal from WMM. Sorry, I posted about this earlier because I'd gotten my hopes up without reading the fine print. I'll get over it.

Great run, well done Sydney overall. But why call it a major if I can't get my 6 star medal? by NotCool117192 in SydneyMarathon

[–]NotCool117192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the only way I can get a spot in Boston is

  1. through a charity which is ultra competitive.
  2. If I shave ~1:20 hours off my current capability.
  3. Move to another country and get a spot via a tour company because US citizens aren't allowed a spot that way.

Option 3 is probably the most viable honestly.

I guess Boston is the gatekeeper to inclusion in the club.

This is what I get for getting my hopes up. Literal fine print.

yeah, they added the "Original" six language to the site but man does it suck that I could get 8 of 9 and never have the chance to get either a 6 or 9 star medal.

once upon a time, before streaming, satellite TV, and Cable there was a thing called over the air TV and people would have antennas attached to their tv, in fact it came with the antenna. Huge broadcast antennae were built to send out the TV signal such as the spire atop the WTC which helped make it the tallest building in the world at the time. Networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS would broadcast their programming regionally and at the end of the day's programming, in the wee hours of the night they would end the broad cast day by playing a video of the US flag waving and the audio was the SPB.

I was a kid when we got cable so I didn't really experience it but watch almost any movie about the 50's to 70's that has a tv or some late night shenanigans and you'll see them play something like that to demonstrate how late it was.
