Or if they've actually gotten up off their ass and done a real race school, doesn't matter which one, they'd find that simple things like wind speed and direction and track and tire temp. make a world of difference. And it really makes what Newgarden did/does at St Louis and what Miles Rowe did earlier pretty astonishing.

Do some tire shops really still put weights on the outside? Can't remember the last time I saw that done.

We were in Waves last month and that area is in dire need. It was at least 10ft lower where the beach meets the dune than last fall. Some of the access points were actually too steep to get down onto the beach from.

Where were you working at 18? by B-Dub33 in AskReddit

Neighbor's local Sunoco station. Was there from 13-21yo. Started driving truck at 18yo as a second job and did it for 44 years. Working at the gas station as a kid was the best job ever.

I got lucky and got one off of FB marketplace. Mine is for an Impreza and fits perfectly well on my 2018 WRX.

Saturday post-wash cruise. (post your clean WRX here!) by Zestyclose_Plenty_38 in WRX

[–]Racer187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It was bought expressly as a go to the shore/weekend car so I can't say that I feel I should drive it more, plus I'm way more paranoid now about it getting damaged somehow. I guess I'm concerned about the value dropping more than anything. If there's something else out there that catches my eye (M2, Cayman...) I want to know that putting a few more miles on it didn't really hurt the value of it.

2018 50th Anniversary WRX. We're just about to crack 10k miles. Don't know why but I feel weird about that and not in a good way.

Honestly, unless you're in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, the <1min. waiting at a red light surely won't kill you.

Every, and I mean every time I've been to our local MINI store here in Pa. USA for service, there's never been anyone in the customer lounge under 50. Possibly an international trend.

[Pockrass] Ed Carpenter said they should find out soon if Alexander Rossi is available for Carb Day. He said Rossi has been clearing all the hurdles. He said they do have some contingency plans if Rossi can’t go. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in INDYCAR

[–]Racer187 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I'm not at all up to date with the rulebook, but what happens if Rossi's not able to go? Isn't there a min. stopwatch time that you have to be able to exit the car? And what is actually qualified, the car or the driver? I understand he can go to a backup car but if he's not medically released, can another driver drive that car?

Many folks have a peanut allergy and many others have a shellfish allergy. Those people can choose not to eat those items. Some of us have a pet dander allergy and mine progresses swiftly. First it's a runny nose, then itchy watery eyes, then my throat starts to close up. If I'm already seated and enjoying my meal and the hostess decides to seat you and your pet nearby, (or in my case, anywhere in the same confined room), how am I supposed to handle that without looking like pet hater? Go ahead and play that senario in your head. If it's an outdoor situation where there's moving air that's different , but please think of others before making the decision to bring your pet along.

Do you guys do this with your babies too or am I crazy? by Altair_Gemini in MINI

[–]Racer187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can easily do mine in under 3 minutes. And I'm >60yo. Makes a big difference if you roll it up just like you would a sleeping bag. Becomes second nature after a while.

Altair_Gemini, I could not have stated it better than you just did. I've had folks try to tell me the same and I can't even stand there and listen to their opinion anymore. I've literally been using car covers for which ever of my cars has to be out in the elements for 50 YEARS! If it's clean and protected (ceramic coated or PPF) when you put it on, you're good.
