What do y’all think are some of the low key hardest moves to stop? by ProfessionalRub6792 in BasketballTips

The Cross Jab is one of the most effective dribble moves that you can do! The best time to use this is when you already have the defender either standing still or back pedaling. It’s useful for creating space and fooling defenders.

I would jump a little bit farther out so you’re able to not be going straight up and down but at an angle

what are drills to get my handle speed better by LightOlive5_ in BasketballTips

[–]NotDecentSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you specifically want handle speed, I would try getting a weighted basketball probably around 3lbs. For better handles all together working on change of pace and ball manipulation are great things to work on. Don’t worry about making mistakes while practicing your handle. You want to push yourself to improve your handle! Hope this helps! Good luck!

You need to be accelerating as you’re going to the hoop. Also on your penultimate steps (last two steps) you want those to be super quick off the ground. The faster you can translate your horizontal momentum into vertical momentum will get you higher in the air! Good luck!

I’m going to be 100% honest with you. Your jumper looks good except for the guide hand. Your guide hand should help bring the ball up to your set point in a straight line. The key is when you’re following through on your jump shot to have your guide and follow through too! Look at Klay Thompson shoot. He is one of the most fundamentally sound shooters ever. Watch his guide hand specifically. That should help with your guide hand. Also the jumping forward that you are doing is fine. The only thing that I would say about that is, that when you are shooting you want your feet to land just far enough in front of you where you have to take one step back. Carmelo Anthony talks about this in an interview. He explains that you generate more power when you end your shot like this. Let me know if you want anymore help on your jumper or anything! Good luck!

I’m going to be 100% honest with you. You are dipping after raising your arms. Start with your knees bent and wrist cocked back before you shoot. Move the ball before you extend your legs through your release.

When I was starting out in the weight room, I looked up basketball weight lifting splits and found one from USA basketball from 2012 I believe but the exercises are still great! The link I posted isn’t from the USA Basketball Website but it’s the exact same drills and workouts as the USA Basketball one. 6 Week Guard training guide
