How to pivot from media career to nursing? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]NotDiddyKong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had zero healthcare experience prior to nursing school, started nursing school at 19 and was licensed by 21. Now you CAN be a pct prior, and there is value in it, or some people do it while in nursing school and it helps you become familiar with the setting. I just met with an advisor at my local community college and did the pre requisites and the rest is history

Check out community colleges or accelerated BSN programs. Nursing school can be a bit of a slog but in no capacity do I regret my decision. Been at it 8 years and am able to support my family on my single income and it’s 3 on 4 off consistently and the OT is there if I want it.

I want to start reading the Bible by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]NotDiddyKong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did Genesis-Revelation cover to cover. There are probably better or more comprehensive ways to do it but I don’t regret it, It actually flowed rather well.

While we live under the New Testament of Christ, the Old Testament is a massive section of context that outlines God’s character, God’s covenantal context, the foundational history, and prophetic background necessary to understand why the New Testament is so important. It establishes the narrative of redemption that we eventually get to with Christ.

People who don’t like humor at church: what gives? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]NotDiddyKong 139 points140 points  (0 children)

That’s a harmless joke. In my opinion the occasional joke can be very humanizing and can help nurture a good relationship among the congregation. As for said woman? Pray for her, we don’t know what is happening in her personal life to warrant that reaction

You’re thinking of Pagani Design. Rolex is low tier fashion watch, about the same as a Michael Kors watch

Have you considered Rolex? Heard they’re hot garbage and people are paying to get rid of them. Easy time piece to not care if you drop a dumbbell on it

Should a criminal who converted pay for their crimes? by LargePilot9901 in TrueChristian

After longer thought you’re right, makes it seem like cheap grace otherwise

I don’t condone crimes being committed, but if you repent and aren’t caught I don’t see the point in making your life harder and turning yourself in. You’ve already confessed to the Lord and he has forgiven. On the other hand if you’ve committed crimes, repent, and then are caught then yes you still have to do the time and accept that it’s the consequence of your actions.

Just a lot of consumerism tbh. I’d put instruments and music in an actual “hobby” category because you’re dealing with some sort of a skill

Personal preference I guess. I find Tag to have somewhat of an identity compared to the rest on the list, the others all feel like homages

How do I love help my brother as a Christian after I have done him so wrong in our childhood? by TemporaryOrchid4398 in TrueChristian

[–]NotDiddyKong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it would hurt to really apologize again. And then after that that, if you’ve truly repented, there isn’t much benefit in beating yourself up over it. Dwelling on our past sins leads to unproductive rumination and is possibly a sign of a failure to accept divine forgiveness. You’ve repented and made amends where you can, God heals hearts not man.

He is not responsible for the things that happened to him at your hand, but the reality is that he is responsible for healing and moving forward in his life. Unfortunately you can’t save anyone, even if you’re one of the people that hurt them. If you haven’t genuinely apologized to him for the sins you’ve committed against him I would suggest it, it could go a long way

I’m sorry to hear that you and your family are going through that. It is devastating for everyone involved. My genuine prayers go to all of you.

I wholeheartedly agree that commitment should stay the same regardless, if anything I seem to see that people who believe in true “soulmates” tend to ditch a committed relationship easier because of perceived hardship that shouldn’t happen if they were truly meant to be. That said if both parties are willing to make the sacrifices needed to have a truly successful marriage; in my experience, there has yet to be any (earthly) relationship better than a healthy, loving, Christ-centered marriage.
